was wondering about the Taper on a shaft. have some questions here, would like to hear what everyone thinks.

if a shaft is, say 12.8mm and has a 14" taper, doesnt that mean at the 14" point it will still be 12..8mm? and then gradually begin to flare out?

and what about shafts that start out around, say 12.5mm and then about 3" down from the ferrule is 12.6mm, and then another 3" down its 12.7mm, and then another 3" down its 12.9mm, etc. is this what is commonly referred to as a "Pro Taper" on a shaft?

just curious, trying to get a hold on this Taper thing.

This same question was answered a few days ago. It might be better to post it on the Ask the Cuemaker link. The one you measured that very gradually increased would be a modified pro taper. Straight or almost straight for 10 inches or more would be a true pro taper.
