Sent my early 80's ultra rare 1 of 1 Runde era Schon to the Pete's to do a litte TLC... Shafts are now perfect and the fit perfect as well. The wrap is now perfect also. The whole cue is just a stellar collectible that hits REAL nice.... They're one of a very select few I would trust to work on my cues.. The journey of this rare cues restoration is now complete! Enjoy!

Finish looks flawless to me. Micarta ferrules on those shafts?
H

Yes. The original yellow Micarta. The two newer shafts were made by Schon using original style ringwork and the Micarta is from their original yellow stock. It should get more yellow as time passes... Pete went over all the shafts.

Probably my favorite ferrule material, if I had to pick one. Stays clean, adds a bit of luster with use, doesn't crack, and nice firm solid hit. It's a shame it's hard to find these days.

Anyhow, this cue cue looks magnificent, and old school.

Looks georgous, they do excellent work

Thanks Hal.. When I found the cue it really needed some TLC. It was definately played but solid. I got it from the nephew of the original owner who was a local player from the south side of Chicago.. I bet the cue could tell some stories..:)

Thanks Hoot..I like the old Micarta too. The same is on my 87' SW. That cue has a great feel too...

Very unique, original design.......love the joint style on this cue........looks pretty rare to my eye.

Matt B,

This cue was supposedly one of a few custom R-14's made just before all the cues that were to be included in the R series were decided upon... Each one was 1 of a kind... The seller said his uncle called Schon to buy a cue in either December 81' or 82' I asked him how he remembered and the story goes that his uncle had just bought a new car and could now travel to different pool halls so he wanted a nice cue too... He didn't remember the kind of car but that would have been cool to know for kicks...

Beautiful older Schon...not surprised that the restoration came out so well; that's just what Tascarella does. :)

Always my favorite schon inlay / cue design...

Great looker.. Tasc did a great job.

I always thought so too. What's the earliest cue you saw with the razor blade inlay?...and YES they treated this cue with kid gloves and it's "right as rain" :)
