Team 9 ball at ABC New york City part 2

Who do you feel are the best players in our league according to their rankings. In my opinion the picks are -

Pro = Tony Robles - need i say more
O+ = Chris Lynch - easy pick since he's the only one
O = Ahmed Aly - He whoooped my butt
A+ = Carlos Luna - this kid can play
A = Paul Johnson - super stroke
B+ = Richard Louapre - very steady, smart player
B = Caroline pao - good all around game
C+ = Steve Falconer - very good shot maker for his level
C = Peyton McGinnis - another great shot maker
D+ = ?? don't really know any

Maybe I can get a few of them for next season :)

aren't you saying, basically, that these people should all be raised? :)

it's tough to say since there's so many players and i haven't seen them all play.

should i post my list of "what? you kidding me? that's guy/girl is only a [insert rank here]?"

Oh no, don't get me wrong. I never once mentioned that these player were underrated nor do I feel that way, just giving them credit where credit is due. Just curious to know what my fellow league players think as to who are the best at their handicap, thats all.

This is tough to produce as there are SOOO many people that are really, really strong players.

Pro = Tony Robles - No one competes! Though Mika'd be a close 2nd
O+ = Chris Lynch - definitely
O = Jeff Quintana - this guy is a rockstar
A+ = Carlos Luna/Wilson Cruz - Both great guys and both play like animals
A = Thom Wan/Mark McDade - Mark is solid and Thom has the best patterns
B+ = Romana Dokovic - solid
B/C & D = there are so many great players, this would be too hard to determine.

Isnt Chris Lynch pro speed?

Jonathan Smith who's also at O+. I guess he's not listed since our team is on a break this season.

You cant be serious

See, this is why I really discourage threads like these.

First, we are discussing in-house ratings. There is a "pro" class. Chris Lynch is currently ranked "Open+" which is one rank below pro. I'm on his team and although I can't say what his exact record is over the past couple years, I know it's a winning one. There is no doubt in my mind his rating is correct. If he were any lower, everybody would complain.

Second, I really wish we could avoid discussing players who do not post here. It's not polite in my opinion. Even though the original poster had good intentions when he started this thread, all it takes is a difference in opinion for it to turn into an argument.

Chris Lynch may be beyond "private citizen" status because of his active participation in professional events but I don't think it's appropriate to discuss many of the other players listed or have detailed discussion of a handicapped amateur league. At least, not here.

We should take this discussion off-line and consider creating an Amsterdam Billiards Forum outside of azb.

I am totally sandbagging in Team 9-ball by giving everyone I play 87 games on the wire to 90. It's easy!

Considering how much I play these days it's amazing I can be competitive at all. I guess I must be doing something right.

Hey, Junior. What rating do you think I am?

Party Pooper! :p

I only responded to "pro speed", not being rated as a pro in the league. I understand that these levels are based on the competition in the league itself. Someone stated that arent you pro speed and I dont agree.
In my opinion Chris you are not pro speed. Im not trying to put you down or anything but there are alot of people out there that call people pros who are not and that isnt fair to the ones who are. Ive been called a pro before by some people and right away I correct them. There is a difference in playing with pro's and being pro speed.

I guess it depends on your definition of pro speed. I don't play pool for a living anymore so I don't really consider myself a pro now.

I will say that there are pros that play my speed and it's not just the upper echelon guys that should be considered pro. There are plenty of players that can play pro speed. I play maybe just under that now but I also don't play as much in a month as most players on this forum (at least the ones that I know) play in a few days.

So, what is pro speed?

I also think it's odd that a player that I've never played and doesn't play where I play would make an assessment of my game online for all the world to see. If someone asked me about your game I would tell them I don't really know how you play since I haven't played you.

I consider pro speed anyone who is capable of winning a pro event or cashes in pro events on a regualr basis.

Ok folks, let's look at the bright side of this!
How many poolrooms are there in this country could sustain a thread such as this? I think it's great that Amsterdam has such a strong group of players that it can sustain this much of a level of conversation here on an international website!
Most of us across the country would love to have a room like that! If every room in the country were as big as that we would be as big as golf!
Be grateful for what you have.

I guess it's not me since I don't even play in pro events regularly anymore.

No need to have an argument about something like this. You stated your opinion on what you consider pro speed and that's acceptable to me. Other people may not have the same definition as you though.

I do agree that there are too many people that represent themselves as pro players. I try not to be one of them but when I was playing regularly on the tour I was a pro player.
