This is better than vaudeville burlesque.....I know this can't go on for too long since you cue is just around the corner from completion.....Santa is going to be very, very good to you.
Meanwhile, please continue to entertain us......I'm still 4 months away and seeing photos of these other Bushka Tribute cues is just fun, especially when these cues are like precious gemstones. DunnM1's Mosconi cue is breath-taking.......Tim's is absolutely amazing......Doc's is another stunning cue design......I hope Jerry is keeping photos of our group's cues and wouldn't it be sweet to see all 8 or 9 cues side by side in a cue photo spread....the forearms, the sleeves, just seeing the different designs and Jerry's splendid workmanship......I don't know of any other cue-maker that's doing this as a series of cues.....all the very same theme of "Bushka" cues, and made the cues one by one individually instead of releasing all of the cues at the same time.
These cues are all individual custom made cues, made to everyone's exact design with different inlays, rings, veneers, points, wood types, and "cue specs" like either ivory or steel joints, or if you preferred, wood to wood or phenolic. These cues are being made to our exact specs and I gave Jerry some tough ones to meet with mine. I know he'll knock my design out of the ballpark like a home run on an August afternoon like he's doing with Tim & Doc's cues and Mike Dunn Mosconi that's already completed. I heard that Mike really likes the play of his cue too and I hope he'll post more photos of his gorgeous cue and some comments about its playability. Mike has owned lots of high end custom cues and his opinion is...uh....let's just say better than the average bear's.
I have every confidence Mr. R will be treating all of us to the best cues we've ever even imagined owning. In the interim while my Bushka theme cue is being made, these cue progress photos are exciting and really interesting to see. I hope all of the other buyers in our group enjoy viewing them, as well as the AZ community.
Tim....thanks for the tease.I hope you've got a lot more of them in mind until your cue arrives. It's shaping up nicely & promises to be a spectacular pool cue.

p.s. Tim, you were right about those dots......incredible rings......A cue should "always" have rings in its design or else it looks incomplete or the cue-maker just got lazy.

Hopefully '15 will be the year I can add a Bushka to my collection. All these über-cool tributes lately are getting my juices flowing....

Funny you posted that thought.....I told Dean at the outset of this project this was a really very special undertaking that would stimulate the AZ community's interest in custom cue builds just in general, Jerry in particular and arouse a great deal of interest in resurrecting Bushka Theme designs.
I also think this will set a precedent with other custom cue-makers or else arouse interest in approaching them. You have a lot of contacts......imagine if you emceed this with say JMW or Pete Tascarella or any other prominent named cue-maker you know well. The cue might cost $3k or $4k or $5k but it would be a limited series of cues to a limited number of buyers as a special project....when do I send my $1000 down-payment......you get my point I'm sure.
This Bushka project Jerry is doing is unique......it's not like a Schon tribute where you don't have any control over the individuality of your cue design and admittedly, limited control over the cue specs as well as I found out firsthand. Building these cues entirely as Bushka Tributes and releasing them in the manner being done ensures on-going attention, publicity, and helps arouse interest in custom cue-making in general. Jerry is building a bunch of custom cues that all are in the same theme.......all the orders were placed as one order.....but the cues are being built sequentially......not as a production run......this is just a killer of an idea in my opinion.......and I'm getting to enjoy a pretty substantial discount on the one I ordered versus what I'd normally would be expecting to pay based upon my experience with pool cues, especially since mine is ivory laiden......This project turned out to be a win for everyone.
I haven't gotten photos from Jerry since May but here are the initial pics he sent back then which was the start of my cue build.

Yup....this is what I mean....or more appropriately stated, meant when I referred to seeing cue designs that excite you. Say or think whatever you will about any cue-maker, or for that matter, how a cue was made etc., but when it comes to designs, the Bushka cue as we all know this design, and its various interpretations, well, it's just the most handsome version imaginable.
And when you get a cue that perfectly emulates a cue that's one that's gone down in history like this cue, or Mike's, it adds a touch of nostalgia that's can't be achieved with any other design. I think my design will turn out really nice but it will never be anything but a fancy version of a Bushka instead of a truly authentic Balabushka cue design like this one and Mike's. There's a lot to be said about having a reproduction of a famous cue aside from being just a perfect replica.....such as it's also just a darn handsome cue as well.

Jerry Rauenzahn Balabushka Tribute
Well, I will tell you what I have up my sleeve! Three different Balabushka's tributes.
1. Was the one I got from Dean.
2. Is the one I ordered, due in March 2015.
3. The third one, you will have to wait and see. Around November 2015.
I will post pictures of one and two, in March 2015. I will then post pictures of all three, around December 2015.

Nice...My sleeve has the same # of dots, diamonds, and colored rings (not gold)... Just a different look... George was good at taking 16 dots, 4 diamonds, and 2 rings and doing multiple combinations...
