Tell me more about this Black Boar

Hi All, I am trying to help a friend sell this cue. I am a little unsure of what to ask though. Can anyone give me some advice? Cue could use a refinish, see the blemishes in the finish, also only comes with one 12mm shaft.

This is a old 4 point that the inlays and the ebony short point were added to the cue later...Just check the buttt diameter at the very end and it should be 1.275 I'm pretty sure cause that's all the 4 pointer butt diameter

You mean the inlays in the butt or forearm? The rings are very similar to a 6 pointer I had. The rounded ends of the ebony points don't look great to me though I must admit.

Yes and this is NOT a 6 point boar I can you that...there are more than a few boars that have been dress up for the 2nd time

And what I mean by that is inlays been added or joint and butt cap been change

You should measure at the very end of butt cap to be sure though

Final conclusion to me is its a 4 point cue that has inlays done afterward

OK, that's interesting, thank you.

I will drop some pics to Tony to get the low down, I am assuming he did the work afterwards looking at the inlays.

The Ebony points that look to be added after the fact look awfully rounded. Would Tony have done something like that?

I think by looking at the pictures that someone ( not tony ) added to this cue at some point. If thats is found out to be the case it would take 99% of the buyers off the cue. I would send Tony an email with pictures and get the lowdown straight from him.

I'm in the same boat as these guys ... Definitely not the work of blackboar on the short points . Also the aesthetic flow of the cue is interrupted by the short points, not a characteristic of Tonys work

I have emailed Tony, my feeling is that he did the work, look how sharp the inlays are.

Even the sharp points aren't that sharp. Maybe somebody added a BB butt cap to another cue

The rings dont line up with eachother either

the cue doesn't work for me and i might give 25% of what the cue will bring from someone who is enamored with the design

one man's trash is another man's treasure

Yep, virtually the same cue... thanks buddy!

I will drop Bill Grassley an email ;)

So many "experts" on here...

Doesn't change the fact that the work doesn't look that good.....picking out flaws and thinking it couldn't be a Boar is actually a compliment.

Btw, nobody claimed to be an expert.

Glad we were wrong - your buddy can make some $$$$ now:thumbup:

Nobody claimed to be an expert? Really? You mean "pookster" and "Bigb'scues" dint give difinitive and absolute answers to the OP's question? Not to mention your remark about "flaws", scrutinizing another's work which in truth is actually formulated from build ignorance.

Ya see I think too many here think they're "experts"....

Tony didn't just buy some equipment and start churning out intricate cues. There have been many transitions along the way and this cue is one of them. If I were into boars I would consider this a must have.
