Having an understanding about league management frustrations, I would like to present some thoughts below. And if you would like, please email your comments/suggestions/ or simply state your interests to pete.l@aspnetnow.com and I'll organize and publish results in this forum.
Managing your league via Internet without server costs – no data entry and no paper work.
Functionality
1. League setup (Beginning of season)
a. League officers set up league profiles including handicapping system, dues, fees and calendar.
b. Team captains register their team with names and addresses, and pay fees accordingly using credit card, debit card or on-line check.
c. League officers accept or reject teams at their discretion
d. League officers set initial and locked handicaps (prior season handicaps can be auto-updated without entering)
d. Once teams have been approved and fixed, team captains and players receive user names and passwords for access
e. Schedules are then automatically generated
2. League in progress
a. Before each match a team member prints score sheets with optionally a current standings and stat sheet for use at their match.
b. At the end of each match and within a period of time dictated by league officers, team captains enter match results over internet. If a team does not have anyone with internet access, they may drop off to designated person. Each team results are compared to their opposition’s sheet independently. If both entered score sheets match, then results are updated. If results do not match, team captains can try to resolve or otherwise have league officers resolve.
c. Team members are able to log on and post friendly comments to their next opposing team through a league forum.
d. Stats can be viewed on line at any time
e. League officers may broadcast messages to the league or to teams and individual players only.
3. Other
Tournaments are announced and managed
Most important, the intent is to have a useful tool to manage leagues without the hassles of calculating handicaps, data entry work of entering scores and to enhance communications.
If interested, please email me at pete.l@aspnetnow.com. I will organize responses received and post it here.
