Several years ago, after buying a table for my home, I decided to purchase some inexpensive cues for the 8-cue wall rack. Three of the cues I bought were Players cues. Not bad cues. Decent wood on the shafts, stainless steel joints, pressed linen wraps, and all are perfectly straight.
Anyway, as I've gravitated to lighter cues over the last few years (I now like a cue in the 18.5 to 19 oz. range), I began the procedure of removing the weight bolts on the three Players cues. A couple of things I soon discovered: Although all three cues were purchased close to the same time, I found that all three had signifigantly different butt caps on them. Also, the weight bolts were all three different too. One actually was threaded so that the butt cap screwed onto it, one was standard with the Allen-wrench head, and one had FIVE inches of thread with a Phillips head on it.
FWIW, they all three play better at the lighter weights, imo. Definitely the one with the 5" weight bolt is balanced much better.
