The Amateurs Corner: What A Piece of Info

So I hopes that both threads can go a bit and be based mostly on the thread title with nothing but mutual love and understanding for the game I have started this thread. My hope is that it can become a place where almost anyone can come and learn something that may help them in their journey.
Not to say that a thread can't be started about a specific topic but just in hopes for a more concentrated location. So here is what I would like.
If you come across a piece of info that you feel to be solid info then set aside your emotions for a sec and share it, regardless of if you feel slightly different about an aiming system or whatever, see maybe it's not for you but someone else may benefit from it and isn't that what we want after all, better players (some of us anyway, others want a fish for life). So here is my first attempt at this.

Practice Work Out:

This is a beginner exercise or maybe you haven't hit some in a while or just looking to warm up a bit, but since this is geared more toward the lower level player here you go. May have asked here about what drills to some do and such but this is a very individual thing and very opinionated, skill level, knowledge, time (that day or per week) are also things that can affect this.
I would like for this to not turn into a "here's a good drill" thread for the above reasons but find this to be good info for some who just don't know where to start and what's important. Too many amateurs spend time working on things outside of there skill level

Dominant Eye

This i'm putting up here mostly because of the device that is shown at around 6:20 as it's a very interesting way to help find this "vision center" that has been the hot topic of late. It's something that anyone can make and help in quest for seeing center ball and a straight line better (friend needed)

A procedural error most amateurs commit is that they think::
To get better I have to make more balls.

In reality::
To get better you have to make fewer mistakes.

Making fewer mistakes includes:: making more balls, but also means you have to make fewer mental errors in::
1) analyzing the table layout,
2) choosing the right group (8-ball),
3) choosing the right ball to make (8-ball),
4) choosing what to do with the CB,
5) choosing where to leave the CB,
6) choosing when to play 2-way shots,
7) how delicate safety shots are,
8) how perilous safety shots are,
9) reanalyzing table layout when position is not achieved (already a mistake).
10) dozens more.

Paying more attention to snooker players rather than pool players. Solid fundamentals are important. One of the best pieces of advice I got from Manny Chua was slow down the tempo of my practice strokes and routine.
