The Ashton Twins

It has come to our attention that our banner ad has caused some controversy. First, for those of you not familiar with The Ashton Twins let me introduce them to you.

Bev and Jo have been playing the sport for many years. Their accomplishments include continuous, 1st Place and other place trophies in VNEA Master teams, BCA Master teams, VNEA Master Singles, Canadian BCA Master Singles and others for the past 5 years.

Both girls have worked diligently to perfect their game over the years and take it VERY seriously. They are in their own right, excellent pool players and deserve to have corporate sponsorship such as AmberBock. Their curriculum includes many charity events, 3 m Canada, Monsanto, Benson and Hedges and MTV Canada to name a few. The girls have done wonderful things to promote the sport of billiards in always a professional manor.

They have been hired by AmberBock to promote the product, just as you would find the "Bud Girls" at many of your local pool establishments less scantly dressed then the Ashton's would ever be! They are attending the Midwest Open/Expo to play with the crowd and that is exactly what they will be doing. Trick shots, contests, giving away samples and promotional products.

Look at it this way, would you rather have "girls" who for the most part know nothing about pool come and play with the crowd, or give it to the twins who can honestly come and play with the crowd? They can give some competition to the sport and indorse the product at the same time. Sounds like a win situation for everyone. At least corporate is noticing the players for a change, so give them some credit for that and come and play with the girls at the Midwest Open/Expo!

Any comments or questions can be directed to us at midwestexpo@aol.com Check out our websites at www.midwestopen.com or www.midwestbilliardexpo.com

The Banner is rotating on AZBilliards and other websites. The Ashton's are showing a modest amount of cleavage that has been offensive to some. What are your thoughts?

These are some of the posts from a different website. I feel everyone is entitled to their opinion, but this seems to be personal. What do you think? The majority of the response has been positive, but this seems to be a bit out of hand.

billiards digest you stink for your crummy ad about the girls on the home page of forum. it looks like the sleeze on some of the other low-down sites. thanks for whoring our sport around and working so hard to enhance the image of pool. my shortcut to your site disappears after this post and if this it what the expo thinks it needs to draw people then i hope they go broke

I feel the same way, I just did not say it. I am sure we are not alone, in how we feel but in this day and age, the average moral caliber is such, that you will get bad mouthed for saying so. You should address your comments directly to Billiard Digest.

Hey Gremlin,

Thanks for the support. Gotta tell ya I love those Hooters wings... nothing quite like em!

We would like to give our Canadian guests a warm welcome. These are true pool players who love the sport. I like your idea about the WPBA qualifier... Good idea!

Hope to see YOU at the Midwest Open where you can "Come Play with the Girls"

Cheers back at ya!

Bob

Well I haven't seen the ad but do remember BD interviewing the ladies a while back. How can those lovelies be anything but pleasant to look at? Heck, Jeanette gets more daring each time she is on TV. What god hath created let no man put asunder. LOL Jake

i don't mind it. i know the wpba spanked joanne mason a few years ago when she decided to play in the women's event, and she wore a very lowcut white top. i was none too pleased with the wpba decision.

but the banner ad at BD is,,,,uh,,,,,iffy, and i can reason the protests. mostly, it's how the whole thing is packaged and presented.

and i think all the gals should wear stiletto heels.

I think I just saw the ad finally. Short hair women, and something come play with the girls at the expo ? That is what people are upset about ?

yep, that's what has got a few all horrified.

That particular photo has been publised in several billiard magazines. It was taken by professional photographer Diana Hoppe who supplies the majority of the pictures we get to see at events that we don't get to attend here on AZBilliards.com

Bruin, I'll check with them regarding the heels. Got a feeling that they wont be able to shoot pool and play with the crowd in thoses things! LOL

We want the Ashton's to feel a warm welcome at the Expo. They are truly nice girls that play fantastic pool. It will be a lot of fun for everyone.

Some people are just out of touch!! I certainly don't think two lovely ladies will do anything to ruin this sport that is at the zenith of popularity!! I think pool is only doing as well as it is now because of some very lovely and talented women playing the game today. No, Gremlin didn't pay me to say that either. The two out-of-touch and disgruntled antagonists that posted those vile words need to go back under the rock they crawled out of.

Oh hell, I saw that one. Absolutely, positively, nothing wrong with it. Gee, if that is offending someone you really need to seek help. Where you been living for the past 20 years? Jake

Oh I get it. You actually work for Amber Bock and are just trying to stir up a little controversy for some free publicity. Hey, you know what? It worked! I'll have to try some Amber Bock next time I'm at the pool hall. I'm surprised Budweiser didn't hire them. Pick a pair. (Twins) Jake

Jake, Amber Bock and Budweiser are both brand names of Anheuser-Busch company. This flap was started by someone at the CCB who must be a Moslem fundamentalist. He would prefer that all women wear veils. If that ad bothers anyone they have a big problem getting along in life with all the worse advertising that is going on now.

I'm going out to buy some Amber Bock later today and will continue buying it when I run out of beer (later today).

I wish I worked for A-B, that would be awesome! But as it is I am only a promoter. I appreciate everyone's positive responses to this ad, the girls are going to do a fantastic job promoting this event and we hope to see all of you there!... Well, most of you that is... who would be chatting on the forum if you all showed up! LOL

Gremlin, I checked with Kelly Oyama from the WPBA today regarding having a qualifier at our event. It looks like it's not possible this time because the wonderful woman who is the area rep has given pro's the option to play giving the amateur player 2 games. In our event's you cannot be of any pro-status which means I would have to redo everything for this event which is impossible. It was a great idea... Keep em coming! BTW, I may be able to add it to the Windy City Open for 2004.

OK all you guys that are in love with the Ashton twins, and they are lovable and play real good too. Here's your chance to REALLY IMPRESS one or both of them. I am willing to give you and one or both of the lovely pool playing ladies a chance to win $10,000 playing, not Reed Pierce but my buddy, the below pictured construction worker. Playing even at Gremlin's favorite pool room, Southern Billiards in Starkville, Miss.

As most of you know, the Ashton twins are tremendous players and give the 7 ball to most of the ladies on the pro tour in the "LOOKS" department.

So, gather up your cash and impress them by staking one or both to play the little construction guy.

P.S. I like looking at them as much as you do and I'm willing to pay to see them play.

I think the Ashton Twins are great ambassadors to the cueing sport! Good luck to Bob and Eydie Ramano with the EXPO and keeping these two ladies entertained!
I personally don't see anything wrong with the banner Eydie, keep up the good work!
