The best feeling in Billiards

Playing on my APA team tonight, I played a SL5 and had to beat him 5-4. On the hill to win the match 5-2, I am stuck with this shot after pocketing a ball into pocket A but not leaving the way I would have liked for the 8 for pocket B. I kicked two rails for the cut and drained it in front of a nice crowd of 30 or so watching our match! What a thrill and way to end a great evening!

Making shots like this are inexplicably wonderful in so many ways. I cannot begin to tell you how good it felt to make this shot, you'll only understand if youhave made similar shots under similar conditions.

If I could ask you to take on thing away from this post....it would be this. If you dont have the balls to try shots like these under tournament or league playing conditions, you'll never get to experience the feeling I am talking about here. You're not always going to make them, but when you do....................:D :D

Trust your skills.

Good luck to all of you playing in your leagues this session!

I’ve made similar shots like this before but was never thrilled about it. I’m glad I made it, don’t get me wrong, just wished position off the ball before was better.

KC, i was wondering where the CB went after you hit it?(almost scratch?)nice shot anyhow and i know what feelings your talking about

Gremlin, after watching Kim on TV the other night, it is nice to see someone other than the top 2 or 3 ranked WPBA make the TV matches....Wish there were more like her moving up......mike

Nice shot man! It's always good to make a shot like that. However I wouldn't want to let the guy get that close to winning. :-)

Gremlin....how do you get all of these pics? Have I missed the boat on who you are or are you affiliated with the WPBA?

But admit it...you were trying to make it directly in....UH HUH!!! Thats what I thought. HAHA!

Yep, you are right, straight in would have been preferable, but I'll take it. I was hoping to get a good hit on it and not leave the guy a shot.

Hustlefinger, If you dont get excited about making shots like this in league, check your pulse man!

The CB almost did scratch, stopped about 8 inches shy of the opposite corner and was on a b line to drop.

I Don't go posting every well pocketed shot I make on the internet, but I think it's fun to have a place like this where you can share this info with people who understand it every now and then. It's not like you can explain this type of scenario to your friends around the water cooler very easily.

If any of you ever post something like this I'll post up an Atta-boy for you!

Have a great day!

I was playing a local tourney DE 8ball, and missed an 8ball in the finals. The player I was playing started to run a couple balls, then played safe breaking his cluster up. This is what I was left with:

Needless to say, the window to hit the 8ball was thin, to make it looked impossible. I jokingly said to my friend, "Guess I need to kick this ball in 2 rails. It looked like it had a magnet. Hit the 8ball perfect.

Won a 160.00 for that tourney, felt great about the shot, but ultimately look at the missed 8ball prior to it. The good, the bad, the ugly all in the same game.

I was playing a game of 8 ball in the bar for $20 against a friend the other day. He scratched the cueball when he was shooting the 8 ball. He's one of those players that drops just about everything he looks at but can't play shape. Anyways, he was gonna hand me the money, but because we are friends I told him, 'I don't play that is a loss, ill play it from behind the headstring.' (we were playing House Rules, not vegas) Both of my balls were behind the headstring (this shot wasnt a result of my own screw up, I played safe after pocketing a few balls off my own break, I had 1 tied up ball and used the other ball to break it free while playing safe.) and we were playing call shot, not call pocket. So i called 2 rails and the 1 ball in. This is the shot. (I couldnt think of the shot with the headstring at the other end, so bear with me here.)

I dropped the 1 with perfect shape and an angle on the 4 to get to the 8. Made the 4 and had a straight in shot on the 8. I got $20 and a round of applause from all watching. NOW SOMEONE TELL ME THEY HAVE ENOUGH CONFIDENCE AND HEART TO TAKE THAT SHOT!! Especially after the win, according to the rules we were playing with, should have already been mine. The one thing that made it not as great as it looks is that it was a 3 and a half by 7 foot table. But everybody in the bar loved it, and now i can't get any action anymore. DAMN...

Kim made such nice progress early last year, I was very surprised that she skipped the Windsor tourney. I love to watch her play and I hope she will be in the Delta next month.

KC, great shot, congrats! I have made roughly similar shots in the playoffs when if you miss, you're out, because you know the opponent won't miss 4 or 5 open balls. Those shots you remember the rest of your life, also adds to your general pool confidence, I believe

I forgot to mention what great shots those were KC and Perk. Tap, Tap, Tap!!! And damnit GREMLIN, can we please have 1 single post on this damn board that doesnt have you chirping in about the #@%*ing WPBA!! YES THE LADIES ARE GREAT but just STFU!! im sick of every damn post having you chirp in something about the WPBA... MOST those beautiful ladies probably can't stand you and fear you as some kind of crazy stalker type. I KNOW I DO!!!

To that FX..Nice out you explained earlier too. Where do you shoot in BC?

Gremlin,
Kid has a point, anyone ever tell you to not take their picture post it in every place pool related on the web? Maybe they like it and I have a bad impressionof you?

Ladies?

I was shooting a friendly 9-ball match with a good friend of mine and this situation came up. For some reason I saw this shot immediately, might have been because I had been shooting some billiards at the time...

Before the shot I joked: "this looks to be an easy 6-railer" and my friend was looking at me like I was crazy. After executing the shot perfectly, I wasn't able to make the 9 because we both were laughing so hard :-)

There's NO WAY you could have scratched! That corner pocket was overflowing with balls! :p

Check the diagram!

This is one I remember because it came in hill/hill match. nice feeling..but I know and you know you cant make a living off these shots!

Harry Blumpkins true colors shine through. I never insulted you, I asked you a question. You decided to ignore it and do your little rant dance. My answer to your question:

I rest my case. Your name is all over this thing like you have it set as your homepage.

I, nor anyone here, are "beating their chests" about a shot made. Like I said earlier, this is a place we can share this information with one another.... Hopefully not to have someone like you come along and try to lessen the experience for everyone.

I get the best feeling from playing three rail shape, through a cluster of balls, and coming up perfect. To me there's nothing quite like that.
