the best ferrulle to similate a single piece cue?

I currently have a cue with a non-capped Ivorine Fiber Ferrulle. It hits good but it is a little soft.

Which is the best Ferrulle to have, to similate a single piece cue hit? Kind-of gives you a sound of clunk on loose grip medium-soft shots.

And if I did change the Ferrulle on my cue, will it change the amount of deflection when putting english on shots?

stay away from ageisis, too hard, stay away from meucci too soft. otherwise, anything will be fine. in my opinion a medium soft ferrull is the best. try to track down an old Mali ivoryne, pre 2001, made in the u.s. by cuesport, they were the perfect feel/hit.

I'm no expert, but IMO it would seem the difference between a 1 piece cue and a 2 piece cue is the existence of the joint on a 2 piece cue. That is where I would think attention should be paid to simulate a 1 piece not the ferrule.

I changed to an ivory ferrule and was told it would drastically effect deflection. Frankly I didn't notice much change, but I don't use an awful lot of english so maybe that's why.

Why do you want to simultate a one piece cue anyway? If they were better for whatever reason, nearly EVERY pro would have no problem whatsoever carrying them to events in order to use them.

Ivor-X is the best ferrule in the market.
It hits very close to ivory but doesn't have the problems associated with ivory.
It is capped and is a little harder than buckhorn.
But, it hits quiet and crisp.
Google search it and you'll find the store selling it.

i agree with catscradle, if you want to simulate that clunk hit, have joel hercik or joeseph franke make you a full spliced cue in 21 ounces, and have them make it bottom heavy. that would be your perfect cue!

to the fella that asked why a one piece hit.....thats what most cuemakers are trying to achieve is the solid feel that you have from a one piece.......and i dont think players would want them as it would be much harder to transport them.......i think that as long as you go with a good quality capped ferrule you will achieve the desired hit......if it is capped and threaded it will make that part of the cue much stronger than just a slip fit ferrule.....so in turn it will reduce the defl;ection only by a 1 or 2 percent margin.....not enough to make a significant difference.........juston coleman

the ferrule doesn't determine whether or not the cue hits like a one piece. the joint does that.

however, one piece house cues use fiber ferrules(not ivorine fiber, whatever that is)

Go to fivestarbilliards.com for the Ivor-x. Same owners as cuesforless, but the site works a lot quicker.
