I would bet agianst Karen making the top 60 if she was not being given a spot due to the King of the Hill which is guarenteed money and which is an event that 107 of the players are NOT able to play in therefore all giving her a head start. When I made my prediction I did so unaware she was going to be given this handicap.

Also, it has been WELL talked about on this forum that the field of the IPT is suspect. There are many of the top male players in the world in the event. There are also alot of very questionable picks that are extremely weak players who I would NOT class as professional calibre male players. Karen is likely to beat the weaker men in this event but that wont mean she is anywhere near the level of the top male pro's.

Here is a bet. You like Karen Corr, I will bet you $25 (not $1000, I would have bet $50 but I already have $25 in action with Jjinfla) that Edwin Montal and Tyler Edey (two locals from my home town and not considered top male pro's) end up making more money combined then Allison and Karen make on the IPT tour on all events in 2006. I am taking two lesser known male players on the tour, you can have the two top female players in the world. If you turn down this bet then you obviously have about as much faith in them as I have and I am done talking with you.

Fair enough - that's a fair enough bet. Both of those players are world class but haven't quite broken out yet. We have a bet. Now, I will bet you, a dinner or a beer or whatever, that Kelly Fisher finishes in the top 60. She's not getting a head start.

From what I understand though, all the players are starting at even in January. I think that Kevin is starting with the King of The Hill tournament just to establish it but that the KOH does not count towards the rankings. I guess we'll all have to wait and see how it all shakes out.

Do any of you rate any of the snooker players are in with a chance??

(i know, i know) before anyone starts the discipline is 8 ball pool here and not snooker but unlike 9 ball the break in 8 ball is not going to be as much of a huge concern as it is 9 ball.

I will be honest, i am a bit of a snooker fan but surely the likes of Ronnie and the other regular 8 ball players from the Uk would be at least in with a shout?

What do you think?

Well, there is no doubt that Ronnie O'Sullivan is a superior cueist. Snooker is quite different than eight ball in that the the patterns are not usually requiring the player to weave the cueball around other balls. Snooker is closer to straight pool and nine ball in the patterns played. I think that Ronnie and other pure snooker players will have a period of adjustment learning the patterns that come natural to eight ball. I think that the snooker players will have issues with kicking and banking which come up frequently in 8 ball. But, I think the snooker players will have an advantage when it comes to potting the ball and you will probably see them making otherwise difficult shots easily due to a higher degree of precision. I certainly believe that Ronnie's talent alone will propel him too the top rather quickly. There isn't much that he won't pick up very quickly.

You forgot to mention that the pockets will be that little bit more tighter which suits the snooker style a lot more. I agree that it different when comparing 8ball/snooker however you still have to put the balls in the pockets. Therefore positional play and cannons etc. are strong parts of the snooker game, so it not going to be that much of a difference other than the tatics etc.

Yup, Allison beat Tommy Kennedy in the finals of the one and only SouthEast tour event she played in. You remember him, the one who won the US Open against Johhny Archer.

And CJ Wiley said that he considers Allison a tough opponent after they sparred for most of a day where she started out by putting a four pack on him.

Allison has stated many times that she has nothing to prove by beating the guys. It's a no win situation, because if she wins she got lucky or they were distracted or some other bullcrap and if she loses then she was supposed to lose.

We'll see soon who's right. In the meantime I am glad that all the players are getting and opportunity like this.

I give anyone on here a sweat bet of $50 (which is about enough for a decent dinner at Outback) that Allison puts at least two current top ten players out of IPT tournaments in the coming year.

John

Tommy Kennedy and CJ Wiley aren't what I would consider one of the top male pros at the moment, certainly not on the level of a Hohmann, Pagulayan, Reyes who have all won a world championship in the last three years.

I am however impressed that Karen beat Mika at one of the Joss events if that is true, man I can't wait for this first IPT event to start!

Woot, finally we compromise. OK, we got the $25 on the Montal/Edey vs Corr/Fisher combined money finish for 2006.

I also like the bet for Kelly at top 60 in the rankings at the end of the year (I imagine it is going to be close and should be fun to sweat). I will do a bet for one of the better buffets on the strip (Bellagio, Paris, Aladin, does the new Wynn have one?) or even just a foot long drink or a fancy type of thing like the Paris drinks that come in the ceramic ballon shaped glass you get to keep. Your choice. I am almost for sure getting to Vegas for the BCA at least this year.

We could also do some cheap 1-pocket, I am also a "onepocketchump" that likes the game but noone plays it up here at all.

That would be the easiest $25 you've ever made in your life.
