The Billiard Channel

How many would like to see a billiard channel on tv. I thought Bcn was taking a step in the right direction but looks like that is not working out. The golf channel works for golf. Why couldn't the billiard channel work for pool? Advertising should be no problem. I think it just takes someone or some company to "just do it". Just a wishful thought on my part. What say the rest of you?

Actually, I work in advertising and advertising would be a problem. Besides industry advertisers (who in a real sense, don't have that much money compared to other advertisers) there would be little interest from the big advertisers. They look for getting the most bang for their buck.

What I think would work would actually be a combination of sports/games. I'm not a big bowling fan but a Poker/Pool/Bowling channel would draw alot of different people and advertisers. Broadening a base of industry advertisers and sponsors would help pay the bills until they were able to see if the channel would be popular and if it was successful, then the big advertisers would jump on board (beer, cars, etc.).

Great idea, I like it. All 3 of those games I would like to see on 1 channel.

....the Golf Channel works because of Money. There are very few bums & cheapskates with $1500 (or more) sticks, $500 bags & a $100 to spend several days a week. I didn't even mention the clothing sales, plus the Country Club costs. Even the muni-courses aren't cheap to play on any more. Add the Bag storage, Cart fees & the 19th Hole bill... that eliminates almost all of the bums & cheapskates.

A large number of these Golfers are passionate about their game of choice & they have no qualms about spending money on their passions... Broads, Cars, Trips, Video Toys & viewing channels...

Businesses will spend their advertising monies, gaining the attention of the big spenders to their products. That's what Television & Radio is all about. getting business to give them lots of money, to show you & I what we want to see & pay for seeing. The advertising dollar pays for the entire bill of broadcasting, our monthly fees becomes the thick icing on the cake.
