The Boston Pool Scene (or lack thereof?)

I'll admit, I've been spoiled with good pool spots in the places I've lived. In Austin, there are several options for pool, and in Arlington, VA, I always knew where games were going down. But in July, I moved to the Somerville/Cambridge area in Greater Boston, and I must say, I feel like the players may be here, but there isn't a good spot to play.

Now, in Cambridge, there is a place called Flat Top Johnny's which is ample in terms of the amount of tables (and there are some great players who partake in weekly tournaments). But beyond that, nothing within the metropolitan area stands out as even an option.

I know a few places closed down recently, and I don't have a car here, and maybe that's what is limiting my perspective, but am I missing something, or is there just not really a pool scene here?

I just want to find one Diamond or Gold Crown to play on against some people who know that "one more game" never holds true. Can anyone help me out?

Mazin' Billiards in Malden and we run an in house 8 ball league out of Jillians near Fenway

You missed all the good rooms, Brighton Billiards was a super nice room, Boston Billiards was more of a players room than Jillians ever was, I don't know if Boston Bowl is still open, but that was a 24 hr place that had pool tables.

Amazin is fairly close to you and is a nice room, great tables. Without a car you are a bit screwed though. The Billiards Cafe in Ayer is a drive up Rt 2 from Boston and has almost daily leagues and a Tuesday tournament.

There is actually a fundraiser this Saturday at 2 I'm going to with my son in Ayer.

Found this video of one of the tables at Amazin with Mike Massey. You can see how well the cloth is put on and the pockets cut http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q...&mid=20B4C07B586F8BF6240420B4C07B586F8BF62404

Thanks for the responses guys. I've been wanting to check out Mazin. And @thepalvos I sent you a PM about Jillians.

Man, if only someone would decide to open a pool hall in Somerville - that's my dream right now!
