For many years the Brass Tap and Billiards has been one of the primmer pool rooms in the country. The home of many , many big time tournaments and the breeding grounds of the Scorpian "Johnny Archer " the Train "Michael Coltrain" and others . Over the years it has been an example of how you treat people and take care of business. Don Coates one of the founders passed today . His son Tony continues to run a place that many could strive to emulate. May many remember Don and his contribution to the pool world. May God rest his soul and may we remember Don and the many memories he left the pool world . Your comments are welcome

On my first RoadTrip i ended up at the Brass Tap...I played Coltrain 9-ball a few hours two days in row.M.Coltrain had a MonsterBreak and ran like the wind, but i hung with him.I ended up one game down...i think it was 1992.( at10 dollars a game)

I believe it was Al Sealeyand Don Coates who started Brass Tap and Billiards.. Never uncommon to see many great players pass through . Ray" Cool Cat" Martin is usually around most days as he teaches a lot at the Brass Tap these days having relocated to the area.

Passed through many times. Don was a great supporter of pool and ran a great place. RIP Don

R.I.P. Don and my best to Tony and everyone at the TAP close to him. Will try and stop in more again now that things have slowed down, everyone here always treats me well and I appreciate that

This weekend October 3 there will be a big Tournament honoring

Come out and enjoy a great day a great cookout like only the Tap can do. To honor the life and contributions That Don helped bring to pool. Come out to enjoy a great time be there at 12:30 for break contest and tournament to follow

Didn't know Mr. Coates but met Tony in my only time visiting the Brass Tap. It was in 2001 and I met Shannon Daulton and Mike Coltrain there before we were supposed to have some golf action in the coming days with a few guys in the Raleigh area. Shannon and I both were 6-7 hours from Raleigh in opposite directions but that's where he wanted us to meet as he had been there several times. Seemed like an awesome place and good pool hall from what I remember and what they told me. RIP
