Dave Coles and crew in Beloit know how to run a tournament. Unlike other events where the tournament directors rob the prize fund, they know how to put a great tournament on. What I don't understand is why billiard rooms don't have their weekly tournament director run the events. You can pay this person far less and if you add 5k, then it is what it says. It would pay back 5k plus all entries. I will list the payouts from Beloit with 5k added with 64 players, compare this to other similar events. It was a $100 entry.

Tournament - Calcutta

1ST 10140
1st-$4240 2nd-6280
2nd-2620 3rd-3870
3rd1620 4th-2410
4-1000 5-6 1450ea
5-6 620ea 7-8 960ea
7-8 380ea
9-12 230ea
13-16 150ea

I know tournament directors need to get paid for running a tournament, a venue should find a different way to handle this. Going to a tournament costs a lot if you have to travel. It is a shamed you have to finish in the top of the event to cover expenses. The total payout for Beloit is $40,520. Congrats to Dave and the crew, I wish I could have been there !

back on the horse

Gary when are you getting back on the horse?

How do you like buying Jesse for $2000 and getting back barely $4000 ? That is the same return you get if you flip a coin and you do not have to wait a weekend to find out that you won.

Yep, many tournaments are out of hand. The tournaments directors peel money from the entry fee then have the nerve to take 15% of the Calcutta money off the top. 2nd place only gets 16 percent in most tournaments for the Calcutta payout? 15% is way too high...:confused::confused::confused:
