The China Open

The China Open is in SHANGHAI in September-the 20th through the 27th.
It has a men's division and a women's too.

I have heard that Shanghai is a great town and very modern too. I'd like to go but I dont know where in Shanghai it is or even the name of the venue and consequently what hotel to book.

Does anyone have the info on this event besides the dates? Doug?

I lived in Shanghai for several years. It is a great town.

Not sure where the Open is ths year but last year was held a YuanShen Sport Center in Pudong area. If you have seen pictures of Shanghai, that is near the TV tower with the large spheres on the top. Many hotels around.

Good public transportation in Shanghai. I just looked at a map and YuanShen is on subway line 6 so easy to get to.

Yeah Shanghai is great - if you don't speak much Chinese and want to stay in a nice, clean area with lots of trees and interesting neighborhoods to walk through, and not be thrown into the whole 'China Experience', stay in the area called the French Concession. Me, I went for the whole 'China Experience' for a few months. But man, that is work!

Pudong is the area of Shanghai on the east side of the river, directly across from the old downtown area. Fifteen years ago it was nothing but farms and rice fields. Has been developed with office buildings, hotels, apartments, shopping everything. A large and beautiful area. Wide streets, everything new and modern.
