If they have someone who offers to do the stream, free of charge, and insist that person pay them for allowing them to do so, YES! JMHO
You think Ray was going to do the stream for "free"?

I think the bottom line is Ray's streams are so much better than all the others that he should charge a small fee for all of us to view. 10-15 dollars per weekend. We as pool fans should support his streams by paying a small fee for them. It would always amaze me when TAR used to have free streams on thursday and friday viewers were over 1000 and on saturday ppv veiwers were under 100. Tall about not supporting the sport that we all love.
If Ray is streaming then he's being supported. Someone (usually the promoter) pays Ray to stream. He doesn't provide it free of charge and eat all the costs simply to bring you the stream that you want. Matt did, Lenny does, and TAR has been known to stream an event on their own dime. Ray gets paid. I'm not knocking him for getting paid but I don't think its fair to guys that don't get paid for people to assume Ray is doing the same thing they do. One is getting paid to do a job while the other is not getting paid and considers it a labor of love. Big difference, imo.

That was implied in the first few posts, but I agree he should receive some compensation.

AZers. Anonymous Troll alert.

This guy is always trying to influence your thinking about things he knows nothing about. Ask him who he is. LMAO.

Almost every bit of the above post is fiction.

FREE to watch is not even close to being the same as FREE to do. No one just goes out and streams without some compensation. Almost 100% of the time I will go and cover an event for LESS than expenses. Then I rely on contributions and advertising to make any money.

The reason many streamers are always harping about doing it for free, which they aren't, was eloquently summed up by Justin from TAR in the quote exert below.

......the fact that people feel the need to apologize for wanting to actually make a profit in this industry is a sad thing.

See ya'll from Mobile this weekend. I'm going to cover the Mobile event for less than expenses. I'm counting on y'all to make it worth while.

Sincerely,

What I'm saying is whats wrong with the streamers charging a small fee. That way we as fans get to watch great pool, streamers and promoters both get payed alittle.

There are several who are VERY supportive. There are many who can only send in $5 or $10. There are many who watch, that need money sent to them! I appreciate everyone who has been been supporting my show small and large! Together it works.

If everyone who watched the show just sent in $10, It would be a great business. Making it mandatory? Not sure it would be right.

I have been barely getting by to date, but things are looking up. The main obstacle is the equipment wearing out, including my mode of transportation.

I have a plan in the works that could help considerably.

I will kick in for sure

I called Keith at Emerald Billiards a couple of hours ago to ask a question about an entry fee, and he told me to be sure to check Ray's stream. Sso, I guess Ray is in Louisiana instead of the Mobile tourney - so looks like this will be streamed after all!

Yes, that's true. Ray will be streaming the Emerald Billiard Event.

Now that I have made reservations in Mobile, Ray does the bait and switch on me.

I wonder how much Charlie had to pay to get Ray to jump ship "again". :smash:

Mobile, it is for me but I hope the DP event and the stream goes well.

LOL. I would always rather be where JoeyA is!

Guaranteed awesome commentary! lol

Actually, Byrd flew the coop on me and Keith Hulin convinced me to come here!

Streaming appears to be a lot like a Soap Opera...lol.

First everyone is extolling Ricky Byrd for recognizing the value of streaming and the internet and bashing DP for missing a huge business opportunity.

Then a day or so later we learn that Byrd is not all that interested in the stream and DP has found someone else since Ray is not available.

Now, we find out that Ray is doing the DP stream...lol.

I guess real life if stranger than fiction...lol.

Did you ever hit the nail on the head?

Now, all I need to do is go to Mobile and bring back another story about how Ray wouldn't work with Ricky and Ricky had to cut him loose. That and Gene keeps beating player after player and how this would have made the greatest stream the world has ever seen. :p

All right. I'm packing up to head to Mobile, AL and if I can borrow someone's laptop I'll drop a couple of posts when I can. If not, next week I'll have plenty of stories about a great weekend to share.

Hang on Gene. Go outside of that smokeyazz poolroom and breath deep; suck in some of that Southern Fresh Air that's so thick you can cut it with a knife. Ahh hell, you may as well go back inside and put the respirator on. At least you can win some dough inside.

I'm coming...............................
