Just wondering how important the eye's are ,even after locking on the shot line. I feel they play a very important part of the shot, at least until the cb is gone.

Anyone thinking other wise, try running a rack of 9 ball , right before you pull trigger close your eyes.

Not easy to do, it seem like the eyes play a part until the ball is gone, even part of the how we stroke. Why else is it hard to do?

I think the eyes and subconscious play a big factor until the final stroke.

The eyes are necessary until the cb is gone if one steers the cue. If one is on the correct shot line, and has a straight stroke, then once aligned, they no longer need their eyes. A straight, repeatable stroke is all that is necessary once aligned properly.

I have beaten B players for the cash by looking away on each shot. It's an old hustle that many can do.

Pretty impressive , never seen this hustle before. How's your stroke now?

Actually, my stroke is as good as it ever has been. My stamina.....well......it's limping along on one leg so to speak. (sometimes just crawling along)

Click my name and go to the third of my previous posts. It's located in a thread started by Genomachino called, "Centerball cueball and dominant eye." It could very well be what you're looking for.

My eyes are needed until my bridge hits the table. From there I can shut them and still make balls.

At one point when I was younger I was working on consistently approaching the shot the same way every time and I won God knows how many bottles of pepsi and Snickers bars from my dad because once I locked the shot in I shut my eyes and stepped in and got down and still made the shot.

But don't underestimate the eyes. They play the biggest part in the game imo.
