The Greatest Male Player Today

I dont think there is such a thing as the one greatest player today. There are several players at the TOP that can beat ANY of the others on a given day. Some are more consistant than others, while some always seem to have the luck of the draw. I think a top 10 would be more accurate.

i'll buy that, ok how's this--- my favorite player is ralf souquet. better?

Ralph is a great 9 ball and Straight Pool player, but as good as he is at those games, he still has a lot to learn about Banks and One Pocket. Learning more about those games will only make his 9 Ball game more deadly.

There is nobody out there who plays every game as strong as Efren, so he has to be it and he has been it for the last 15 years.

One more thing tournament play is much different than gambling, just because a guy may beat someone in a short set doesn't mean he is as good as the other player. The proof is when the guys are gambling and they play all night long, the better player wins 90% of the time.

Some of the top 10 players will not even think about gambling with Efen. At least not without a spot.

Nobody could have said it better B.D.

Efren without a doubt, he plays all games extremely well, even snooker. His Master of the Table title at DCC is just proof of his incredible talent.

I cannot understand why anyone would think Efren is not the best player alive today. Thebigdog said a lot but not quite. Efren, as I have stated before, will play in the tournament, gamble all night, and wind up many times winning the tournament. I would guess, and I could be wrong, that Ralf, Mika, Earl and many of the top players play their matches in the tournament and then go get some much needed rest so they can play well in their next match.

If you look closely at Efren when he played Jimmy Wetch and played a perfect match, he looked like he hadn't slept in days and that probably wasn't far from the truth. I would like someone to suggest who could come even close to Efren playing 9 ball, one pocket, rotation and three cushion billiards. Ralf might be able to beat Efren in a tournament but lets see them gamble playing any two of the games I just listed. I rest my case.

I'd have to go with Efren. He seems like a nice guy too. Although, all of it means little to me. because every pro out there, on their worst day can beat the crap out of me.

All of the pros out there play great, but Efren is the toughest of the bunch, as far as I'm concerned. I like him against anyone playing a long session of 9 ball...even more so if he had a better break. Playing one pocket, I don't think anyone wants any part of that (not playing even, anyway).

i think "greatest" is different from "best", which i think is more what you mean.

"greatest" goes beyond won/loss. "greatest" has an impact on the game. he takes the game where no one has been. he opens the door for others to follow, and shows others what they couldn't see before.
"greatest" makes an indelible mark in history.

............efren

Talk is cheap.
Let's see any of this pro CHALLENGE Efren to a long haul one-pocket game. Straight-up.
Let's face it, One-pocket determines who the better pool player than any other game.

Well I'd say one pocket determines who the best one pocket player is!

Different games, different skillsets.

You can find a one pocket players than cant play 8 or 9 ball for toffee!

Ching Shun Yang of Taiwan would be able to take anyone in a long 9ball race, Efren included.

Just watch the guy's break and his shotmaking. Great positional play and some good safeties too. Precise as hell. I don't see any weakness in his game. That goes for 9ball...haven't seen him play anything else.

I know Mika used to put it on the line, I don't know why he doesn't anymore. I'm not sure if Ralf ever mixed it up, but I know Earl used to get down a lot. The only reason he doesn't anymore is b/c cuetec won't let him. Earl is the only one that is on Efren's level, and I think Earl is the favorite b/c of the break shot. 9-ball isn't rocket science after the break. That's why I'd pick Bustamante over Efren, also. All around, the only one who could challenge him is Parica. That's my suggestion, Rick. I'd take a small money line to make it fair.
