2 schools of thought ...
have always existed about who the best player is at
any one given time:
1) Who wins the most money?
2) Who does the best overall in major tournaments?
or it can be a combination of both, but hardly ever will one
player be #1 in both categories. They are 2 different arenas,
and players that excel at one, do not always excel the same
way in the other. There can be many reasons for that, for
example, if a player is known for being a very slow player,
many other money players might turn down a match up with
him, so he will not end up winning the most money. Doesn't
mean that he isn't the best player, simply that because he
is slow, he has less opportunities to win money. That could
hold true for a player that is known to try to shark his opponents
all the time, he would have less opportunity to make money.
The ones you really have to worry about, are the ones when
you get done you say, "You know, he was really a nice guy,
and I didn't mind dropping 50 grand to him. I'll get it back
later"..... now, you need to worry, because he has added you
to his 'play monthly' list.
