The hit of an Excalibur sneaky pete

Although I've owned several cues and probably shot with over a hundred, the one whose hit I like the best is a lowly Excalibur 4 pointer sneaky pete, 19 oz., looks to be made of ebony.

For whatever reason, the hit is enjoyable to me, and it's my favorite playing cue.

I've tried to find out exactly what a full splice cue is, and have looked at the pictures on one of the threads in this forum, which lead me to this site:
http://www.arnotq.com/pages/21/21.html (Pics below)

I had another Excalibur sneaky that I cut down and hollowed out the shortened butt to lighten it a bit, and it sure seems to be something like I see in those full splice pictures.

Is the Excalibur sneaky a full splice butt?? An imitation? A bastard?

And if it is a full splice butt, will other full splice butts likely have similar hits?

Thanks so much for any information you can give.

Bump....

Also FWIW, I'm interested in acquiring another cue, and would like to find out what the construction of the Excalibur is called. It's certainly a wood to wood joint, with a 5/16 X 18 thread, with accompanying brass insert. Full splice, half splice, whatever splice...

Can anybody be of assistance?

Thanks so much!

is the excalibur the cue with the olde english written in really big bold letters??

that's a damned good breaking cue!!!!!!!!!!!

they have a bunch of those as house cues at broadway billiards. the grain is just the way i like it,,,very dark reddish bold gran lines and a lot of them are surprisingly straight. the resultant hit is very sharp and crisp. i can pick a great break cue from the lot all the time. plays good as a playing cue too, but i've found a larger % of them warp than the dufferins .

Yes, I bought one on eBay (two piece) and it was an excellent breaking cue, no doubt about it. It hits great.

Now, if someone who makes cues can fill me in on whether that is a full splice or half splice or whatever it is, and who makes nice custom cues that are similar in hit to the one I have, they might just have a potential customer knocking on their door... :D

It would be a full-splice cue.

Thanks so much!

I visited your website, beautiful cues there!

Can you tell me if, all things considered, a full-splice cue that uses ebony for the butt will hit differently than an apparently equal cue (in terms of size, taper, and so on) made of some other wood, say rosewood or cocobolo or bacote? If so, is any difference due to the weight/density of one wood over the other?

I appreciate your answers.

they'll feel different more than hit different because the nose will still be maple. the hit will not be appreciably different.
