The Itch

I've got the Itch to play worse than I've had in years. It slowly crept up on me and sprung last night during my APA match against a 5 (I was a 4 after a shoddy display last week) in which I went 31-13. It would've been 31-0, except I get nervous when I start doing well... slowly taking care of that, but that's beside the point.

I have the Itch, but I have no way of relieving this Itch... I was wondering if anyone has advice on how to make it less intense or go away altogether, even temporarily? I can't concentrate at work and all I want to do when I'm off work is play pool... I feel as though it's some sort of disease and the only way to push it into recession is to play... but I'm at work most of the day. Any advice?

Yeah, here are your choices:

a. Tell the boss you're about to throw-up, leave, go play pool.
b. Narcotics. Preferrably, the illegal ones.
c. Find a woman who will not allow you to have a single pleasure in life without feeling like you've betrayed her.

We used to sneak out early about once a month and go play snooker for the all day rate. I tried the online pool games, but it's not worth getting fired for and doesn't really do it for me. Now I have a pool table and snooker table at home, so it's watch out for the other drivers on the road when I get off work. Tonight's one of my favorites because a local public radio station plays the blues from 4 pm to 6 am with no commercials. Nothing puts me in the zone like the blues!
My advice is feed the addiction. The withdrawals are much worse than the side affects. Right now I'm playing in a tournament one night a week and two league nights. I'd like to play more, but I have to keep the wife happy and keep the money coming in.

just play till you're too sore and tired to go on. the itch will subside.

until tomorrow.
