the "it's george" tip shaper

Dumb questions to follow. I bought myself an "It's George" (link) shaper, I want to make sure I'm using it properly without unnecessarily wearing down my tip.

For those who have one or may have seen it, are you supposed to fit your tip into the little indentation and twist the tool over it to shape it (at an angle or not?). Is the bigger dome area just for scuffing? And it doesn't seem like the tapper side really does anything on a hard tip (I've got a LePro), are you supposed to tap it pretty hard? (Why tap vs. scuff?)

Also, both sides of the guide seem to have a highly curved shape, not sure if I want to try to fit my tip to those.

Finally, why is it called "It's George" anyway? Couldn't find an explanation anywhere, I thought it might come with one.

Thanks for any help.
