the loop bridge

When I form the bridge I can see a sliver of light at the edge of my finger in between my cue. It's not in incredibly tight bridge but it's not loose either and I shoot consistently with it. I'm just wondering if my fingers need to be snug against the cue. I've tried that and my stroke isn't fluid.

I don't think you should hold it so tight you're impeding the movement of the stick through your fingers. Hold it tight enough so the cue doesn't rattle around in your bridge. And remember, the bridge should be what determines draw, stop and follow not your shooting hand.

I think you should use the looped bridge whenever you can it doesnt have to be really tight but tigh so you can make sure you are sending the tip where you want on the cueball. I would say use it for all shots most of all when you use english!!!

Matty,

What the hell are you looking at your bridge fingers for anyways when you're lining up your shots

Seriously, try a shooting glove.

I've been thinking about that. I'm not sure if they're worth paying the money.

Yes, I think this is very important. Good post.

Alot of players when told to keep their closed bridge "snug" hold it so tightly that as they stroke forward, their stroke seems to be inhibited because as the diamater of the shaft increases further down, there is not enough room for it to pass thru the fingers smoothly.

Thanks Danny D! I'm glad you agreed with me because when you don't, wow, you get down brother!! I'd sure like to play you some time but I got a feeling you'd want to play for the mortgage on my house! LOL You sound like you probably shoot a pretty good stick and I don't know if I'd like my odds on winning!
