The most common lies told in a pool room.

I'm really an APA 7, but I sandbag and stay at an APA 4.

I used to run around with Buddy Hall.

I bank better than I shoot straight in.

I used to know the dot system.

When I was younger, they broke my thumbs so I can't play anymore.... (okay, I only heard one guy say this)

I used to be a pro player

I put myself through college playing pool (it's worth repeating)

Pros never use english...

My uncle played Minnesota Fats

I didn't inhale

The lies around me almost always concern # of racks someone ran (which btw is different than consecutive racks won for the future story tellers out there) and/or the amount of money someone has won.

But what is becoming more and more common are the lies concerning how much ppl paid for equipment...either they got twice the deal you did or they value equipment at twice what its worth...thats what is so exhausting...everyone at the poolhall has some sort of angle and its all to obvious to figure out

Of course we all have heard "I put myself through school gambling."

Also, I know so in so and if he practiced more, he would be a pro.

And lately at the Elks club (No players at my home club). I know this guy who would eat you alive. But sadly this great C player never comes to teach me;)...

All of these are repeats but are very common.

I have heard a few in the place I play. It got so bad that the owners put in a bell. like a boxing ring bell, and it gets rang when a "big one" is told...LOL Sometimes, it gets rang many times for the guy!
