In fine showmanship style Sigel is definately stoking the excitement fires with this little news article off of the IPT website.
I wish I could buy the PPV of the finals, $10 for that single match? No problem!
Hall of Famer Mike Sigel is getting warmed up for Sunday in fine style. Sigel tested himself with tour founder Kevin Trudeau’s $100,000 challenge this morning, and had he been in action, he’d be 100-grand richer.
Trudeau offered a $100,000 bonus to any player in the tournament who could break and run eight consecutive racks in competition. Sigel, who has been buzzing around the tournament arena all week, thought he’d loosen up on the center-stage table in the arena they’re calling the Mother Ship. “I went in and ran eight,” said Sigel. “Then they needed the table for a television check. I might have run eight more, who knows.” Too bad the offer was only good for players in the other room.
Besides banging out racks and spending time with newspaper and television reporters, Mike Sigel is practicing and playing to get ready for the King of the Hill Shootout Sunday. With $200,000 at stake—and his title as reigning King of the Hill, Sigel doesn’t want to leave anything to chance.
“I played Nick Varner three days in a row,” said Mike the Mouth (along with a lot of other stuff he fired out too quickly for me to write down). “When you have two great players playing –that got me in stroke.”
He doesn’t think the table time that the other players are banking will be a disadvantage to him on Sunday. “I’m playing very well,” he said. “The finals are very different.”
