they use a fixed one in snooker, what i'm not so sure of is with the weight of the cue would it settle or move a bit(down) when you shoot the shot and possibly hit(foul) the ball below it. I would try it and in a tight spot it might work for certain shots, but I dont see it being the standard, but a useful tool
I don't see any reason why they couldn't use plastic instead of metal on the actual "rest" part of it.
This looks pretty cool. I've never heard of it, but it is neat. I can't believe the moosehead thing is still not standard equipment everywhere. I carry one in my case. I hate the other old fashioned one so much. Looks like you'll knock the cue off just by looking at it sideways...

the snooker players have ash shafts and they dont ding as easily, you can set a ash shaft down hard on a metal rest over and over again and it dosent ding them, on a maple shaft it would look like a golf ball with pits everwhere, this tool is a modification of a snooker rest, but with a few minor adjustments it will be useful.

It does look pretty cool, and with a plastic rest, this thing looks like it would be great. I like the fact that you can really raise it up.Maybe it comes with a scope attachment?
