These cases were made for the JB Case AZB Raffle Winner from May 2007 Robert and Melissa Olson. Because the project ended up taking a long time we made a case for Bob's wife Melissa as well.
These two are matching in design but not the same. For Bob's we did a design that features two lines of tooling flowing in a curve. The curve is opposite on the front and back. The sides of the pockets follow the curve.
The tooling lines are not done with an embossing machine. They are done by hand very meticulously and carefully. Each impression was done by hand.
The lid was cut to match the flow of the case and the closure and hinge done to match the flow of the lines. The case also features a compartment for keeping joint protectors, cell phone, or whatever you need to keep handy while playing. This compartment at the top is padded on the inside to keep your goodies secure.
Bob's is a 3x6 with the JB lightweight interior. This interior allows the cues to gently slide upward when the case is opened, yet has no mechanical springs or other parts to break. You can see from the pictures that there is ample padding between the components. The cues are well protected and secure.
Bob's case is not much bigger than a 2x4 and it comes in at an empty weight of 2.5kg or just 5.5lbs for a 3x6.
Melissa's case is a 2x3 that is in a normally 2x2 size. On our lightweight interiors we have developed them so that they fit more butts and shafts in less space. For this case we did custom tooling on the pockets, matching lid, closure and hinge. This one comes in at 1.7kg or 3.7lbs with heavy weight leather.
For both cases we laced the backs instead of joining them with rivets.
You can see more pictures at the AZ Gallery Olson Twins or at the JB Cases image album - Olson Cases
The price of doing these cases individually would be $1100 for Bob's 3x6 and $600 for Melissa's 2x3.
Enjoy.
