Joe the cue came out fantastic!! Veneer colors really beautiful and meaningful. Curious to know why ivory inlays were chosen over MOP? Regards, Hal

Two reasons.. one as stated by Mark.. had he lived another 10 years it would have been a natural progression. The other is I really loathe the thin slot diamonds. (Its a personal opinion, I am just not a fan of the newer diamonds.)

You'll know how much.. very soon. lol

JV

+1 to that and same reason I also went with the "ivory old school diamonds" on my Tascarella here... ( http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=392874 ) ...Although it's nowhere as elaborate as your beauty, not even close, but what I could afford after saving for years. Yours is just simply a fantastic Tascarella, one of the best I've ever seen ! Certainly GTB would sure be smiling upon it. Mine will be going to my grandson someday

That is one special cue! To think that Gus, George, and the Tascarellas all worked on it is actually mind boggling. I haven't logged on to AZ in a while, but this made me smile.

From Mark K....

A tremendous amount of heart and thought was incorporated into every design aspect of this cue. Although George missed celebrating his 63rd birthday by
just a few days, he still lived 63 years... 1912 - 1975. Each of those 63 years are commemorated with 63 individual pieces of ivory: 9 ivory pieces in the shaft,,,
54 ivory pieces in the butt ,,,,,, representative for his life-span.

George Balabushka was a great man whose contributions to the Billiard World are monumental. This 40th Anniversary Testimony to his Greatness will
continue next month at Hopkins Super Billiards Expo. Make time to visit Steve Klein's booth to witness 5 Extra-Ordinary cues as Testament to George's life.
In addition will be the "HOLY GRAIL" BALABUSHKA CUE,,,,, NEVER BEFORE DISPLAYED FOR PUBLIC VIEWING. This will be a once in a lifetime opportunity
for those in attendance. Stop in to visit, enjoy, appreciate, and share in this Historical Event..... we will be displaying some Balabushka memorabilia...... bring your
Bushka cues, stories, and enthusiasm to participate in this 40th Anniversary Testimony to George Balabushka.

It's amazing, after all these years the maple in the forearm looks pristine - as do the veneers. No evidence of patina in the pics. Look forward to seeing some of the other pieces to come. Awesome stuff!

I'm guessing this cue is perfect fit for the start of the Baseball season.

I wish I could be there....
