The One in Prague Eurotour

I was keeping an eye on it last night. I hear that EUROSPORT is supposed to be there making a test filming and if it flies they will start to cover future Eurotours. Keep my fingers crossed. It would be a great boost for pool, higher prize money and more incentive for sponsers. Miko, you have to come to the Eurotour in Rankweil, Austria. Your buddy,Juva played great for the win last year!

Two of our Players are also fighting it out there in Prag

Holger Gries and Uwe Kaiser

Holgwer beat Sandor Tot and Uwe lost his first match to Imram Majid and won his second. He now has to take on Snador Tot..

Markus

No-Sho, I got your greetings through Markus last year. :)

Yes, Markus played well and at the level he is supposed to play and deserved to win. You really cannot luck those Eurotour event victories.

Cheers, somehow won my third one today on winners side after a big night out (was my mates bday so had no choice -will never learn! )

Play Mick Hill 2 shot 8 ball world champ next in an hour for place in last 32.

Good job Craig, hit 'em straight.

Last I heared, Eurosport2 will be airing about 1 hour about each of the euro-tour stops. It's not much but it's a start.

Craig lost 6-9 to Mick Hill ( A legendary, world champion 8-ball player under the English rules)

I wasn't suprised he beat NVB, (runner up in the world champs). Well done buddy!

Craig's still in there with a chance....GO MATE!!!

Note also that Jasmin Ouschan is still in contention in group A after winning her first two and losing her third match on the winner's side.

Jasmin just put fellow Scot Michael Valentine out of the event with a 9-6 win. I don't have any reports about how the match went. Just have to wait until Sunday when I see Michael at the first Scottish Tour event of 2006.

Also, Pat Holtz - last year's Scottish qualifier for the US Open - went out at the same stage, being beaten by one of, what seem to be, a multitude of German players at the event.

Good shooting Craig, go rip 'em up on the other side of the bracket, they're all losers after all!

Unfortunately Craig narrowly missed the final 32 but he still had an impressive performance, Nick VD Berg is one tough cookie. Jasmin Ouschan came close to the final 32 as well, not bad considering she's just 20. I would look for one of the germans to take this one down, but there are alot of great players in the L32.

Bad luck Craig....good effort. I see Nick got revenge 9-7 in the match to enter the last 32 (I think).

Looking forward to Craig's commentary!

Pretty impressive effort my Jasmin too!

wow gratz the one. beating nick is already a very nice thing. ps will u do me a favor, if u see one of the belgium players, say them hi from solartje. (or Bruno "the houscue" Ramos pereira).

our country went to praag with 9 members or so. Seems Das serge is doing good.

theone, do u live in europe?

edit; bleh , just saw no belgiums in the last32. Even if it werent the best guys who went there. No yvan haessen , no mario lanoy, no jan dulst, no marc malot, still was good result for our own top32 players. TO bad das en pascal lost his match 8-9. especially das. He really thought he had a chance to finish in the top32

Theone, again gz on winning vs nick. just saw NvdB won vs REIMERING Christian en ralfie souquet. These arent just some newbies!! Seeing your results u are one HELL of a good player. are u in the ipt? of not, u should.!!!

greats to all europeans out there from Silly Solly, and if u see belgiums, dont forget to say them hi from me.

Update on the event:

Darren Appleton, who has posted here as Dynamite, is going great guns and has made the final.

Darren is an IPT member. His background is English 8-Ball (2 shot rules on small pocket 7' tables).

Seems he's been putting in some work on the US tables.

I've always believed these top English 8-ballers would do well in on the US tables if they put their mind to it. Most have strong snooker backgrounds.

OK quick one, just watching Darren Appleton playing Fabio now in the semi, Appleton was winning 5:1 and looking like he would run away with it but its now 6:3 with fabio at the table. NVB in the other semi, I think Appleton will prob make it and play Nick in the final, not bad for his first Euro tour event, like I said before watch out for Daz on the IPT, 8 ball is his proper game!

EDIT: Darren won as predicted 9:5 I think?

I was lucky enough to win my first 3 on the winners side, with my best result against NVB. This match was quite close all the way up to 6:6 with quite a lot of break and runs from both of us. Then Nick went 8:6 up, I got a break in the next and then ran out to make it 8:8. Sadly Nick had won the lag so I had to sit and watch as he made a ball on the break and had what looked like an easy run out. Luckily for me hs finished straight on a 4 ball in the side an have to leave a slightly tougher shot on the 5 which he over cut. I ran out the rack for the win.

Of course since it was my mates bday and I had gained 3 hours extra sleeping time by beating NVB we hit the town to celebrate. -9 and thick snow everywhere but probably had a few too many and got to sleep around 430 (yes sjm I know!)

The next day I of course struggled badly, in my first match I came back from 6:3 down to win 9:7 against a decent czech player. Next I played Mick Hill and played so bad in the first 6 frames I actually considered quiting for the first time ever it was that bad! Hung in there and although didnt get too many rolls I didnt deserve to win and eventually lost 9:6.

I was supposed to play NVB for the second time at 9pm but the losers side was going very slowly and I didn't actually start playing until 11pm! Again I started poorly, missed a 9 ball and a few other easy balls to go 5:1 down. Every other match had finished and it was very late but I tried to hang in there as I didn't want to get thrashed and go out like that. Nick made a couple of mistakes and I took advantage to claw my way back to 6:6. The next frame probably lost me the match, I had done all the hard work and had a simply 7 ball into the side. I had to roll it slow and pinch the pocket a little to hold for the 8, it seemed to turn slightly but I missed it to go 7:6 down instead of in front for the first time. NVB broke and ran the next as did I to keep the pressure on at 8:7 but sadly Nick didn't repeat his mistake from our first match and he broke and ran the last for the win. Although to be honest I probably lost the match in the early racks as you can't give a class player like NVB a 5:1 start at alt break format and hope to still win very often.

I came to Prague half for a holiday and half for pool so didn't take it too seriously but it was good to play comp again for the first time since the US Open back in Sept. It was also good to play NVb since he had a great year last year and also looks like he might win the whole event after thrashing the inform Souqet too. Also good to run him so close, although with two chances Im a bit dissapointed not to make the last 32 atleast.

I think NVB will make the final and although I would like to see fellow brit Darren win it I wouldn't mind being the only one to have beating NVB in Prague hehe :p

Well Nick is listed in the final. I'll be hoping Darre wins it, but it will be some consolation if Nick wins and you were the only one to have beaten him. He seems to be playing very strong in the last 32 by his scores.

Sure wish we could see your best efforts with some decent table time and a sober tourney *smacks screen* :D

btw: You seemed to have gotten the worst of the draws with NVB, Souquet and Mick Hill in the same group! :(
