I have had the opportunity recently to sweat some serious action. For me it seems like, as a general rule, the best players bet the most.
In my pool hall there are about four players that have played the same $100-$200 one pocket set for 15 years and nobody improves except for maybe one player. Often people say that action improves, yet the regular players in my pool hall are in regular action and they regularly play at the same skill level. This make me think there MAY be a correlation between an increase in skill level and staying in action for increasing stakes. That is to say, perhaps it is not “Plain 'Ole Action” that helps improvement, but rather action that is “Serious” to the player...or action that takes them out of their comfort zone.
This is just a theory I am floating; I am interested in your opinions on this.
