Pick out one person you respect. A good instructor that is or has been a good player. Then listen to them in all things. Do not lightly deviate from what he or she tells you.
It is usually folly to try to grab a little from one place, a little from another. You end up just grasping at straws and have nothing in the end.

Hu,
I did exactly this!
I traveled and played with Tinman (mnpoolbootcamp.com) for over ten years.
We played, practiced, trained, gambled, talked pool for hundreds of hours.
I would listen to his approach and then go my own way.
I reached a point where (after 30 years) 'my way' wasn't getting me to where I wanted to go, not in results or happiness with the game, so I made a conscious decision to shove all in on Demi's approach.
It's been great!
Demi has the overall approach to the game, to achieve joy as you work to improve, as close to solved as I've seen.
Just wanted to say that I am impressed with your advice, I second it, and if anyone wants to push all in with one instructor, I'd say Demi is not the only option, but he is an awesome one
