Hi Melissa

I noticed last year that you were playing with a different cue. What is it and does it make any significant difference in your play ?

Good luck in 2004 !

Hi there!

Last year, I switched to a Morris Custom Cue with Predator shafts, made by Ned Morris of Desert Hot Springs, CA.

Predator sent unfinished shafts directly to Ned, who matched them to the cue that he was building for me.

I love my new cue. It has a very solid hit, and is perfectly suited to my style of playing. I really don't know how to explain it, but I just feel really "safe" with this cue. As long as I am striking the balls well (no twisting or hitch in my stroke), then I don't have any worries about how my cue is going to handle it. The cue hits true and solid and I have a lot more confidence because of it. I used to struggle with long-distance draw shots...I always felt like the ball would "scoot" off target as soon as I hit it. Now, I don't have that problem anymore....the ball goes where I aim it and nowhere else. So, if I miss a ball, I know for sure that it is my fault.

Some people (especially people who like to use a ton of English) think that my cue has too stiff a hit for their taste, but they are players who have gotten used to adjusting their aim in order to compensate for the amount of English they use....and they have developed a "feel" for it. So, when they test my cue, they cannot get that "feel"...and so they don't like it. Other players, people who tend to use more center ball and the same stroke for most shots....well, they like the cue a lot.

Hope that answers your question a little bit! And thanks for the good luck...every little bit helps!
