the semi-secret Qatar open 2023 (live link)

So Josh won the last 4 games to win 13-9. A few stats:

11 breaks for each of them. Wing ball made every time, although 1 break for each player was illegal (3-point rule)
B&Rs -- 6 of 11 for Filler, 5 of 11 for Ko
Breaker won game -- 8 of 11 for Filler; 6 of 11 for Ko
Misses -- 5 for each (approx.)
Fouls -- none for Filler, 2 for Ko
6.4 min. per game average, including 3 timeouts

Interesting little tweak on alternate breaks here (I don't know whether it was used throughout the event). Break 2 games in a row, then switch, except start by switching after Game 1. So for any race to an odd number of games, if the match went all the way, the winner of the lag would have the last 2 breaks but still just one more break in total than the loser of the lag (as with alternating after every game).

That's weird. Now one can't even use odds or evens on the score total to figure out who is supposed to break.

Hello - Can someone please explain - In rack 6 at time 35:52 on the youtube stream of this final.

Ko Ping Chung breaks and makes a ball but doesn't shoot the next shot with the 1 in front of the corner pocket. Is there a rule I'm missing here?

Thanks.

Some events use a three-point rule for a legal break shot. The total of balls pocketed plus other object balls reaching (touching, passing; it varies) the head string must be 3 or more. If not, the non-breaker has the choice of shooting or passing the shot back to the breaker.

Thanks for explaining that.

Now the question is which of these players will show up in Hanoi.
It’s doable

All 3 Ko brothers and Carlo Biado are on the draw for the Hanoi open. Unknown if they will actually show up. Carlo's wife stated on a live youtube video when Carlo was playing last week that he withdrew from the Hanoi Open due to WPA bans.
