You laid down cause the dipster walked in and your plan is to sneak up on his blind side
or:
the dreaded cue ball skid
or:
the cue ball or object ball rolled over some crap on the felt which resulted in disaster
WINNER! Good job.

Aaaahhh! I figured it out from another thread- the 3 hit some dust mites and rolled off! (I hate when that happens:angry
3 hit a piece of chalk and rolled off? (if so, have you learned nothing from Archer??:grin![]()
Joey, I don't think the ball skidded on you. I'd be willing to bet that there was a small piece of broken chalk on the table right up against the 3. When the 3 went over it, it hopped a little and went off course. The 3 would also disintegrate the piece of chalk, so you wouldn't see it afterwards unless you looked for a chalk smudge there. I have had that happen before to me.
Last Sun. in the tourney, I had the shot below on the 9 to win the set 5-1. The stupid 9 skidded big time on me right into the point, making the score 4-2 with both of us on the hill and him breaking. I got lucky, and he dogged a shot, so I won anyways. Hate when that happens! (not the winning, the skids:wink
We've all been there.....and we feel your pain! :crying:
I can still remember a shot I missed in the early 80's!!!!

Neil,
Have you ever missed such an easy shot as this? I mean since you learned how to play. This is on a bar table and the shot was very easy.
I'm hoping to see if someone can guess as to WHY I missed the shot, not how or where I missed the shot. But to respond, no, it did not hit the left point but since you made a good guess at where the 3 ball hit. I will tell you it didn't fly off the table.Actually, the three ball hit the right point of the side pocket.
I saw Matlock miss that same shot in that exact same situation once.
It happens.
Did I mention that I had him in the calcutta???

I played 9 ball today for the 1st time. The guy showing me how the game goes, also pointed out that part of the preshot routine is looking at the cueball and object ball path.
Then he showed a piece of something on the table. Took it off and said, see that there could have cost me the game. We will groom this table after this match.
I also learnt how you can easily be fowled out of a game.
I've often been surprised at how hard some really good players hit the ball as they play. Especially good bankers.
Maybe this is why?![]()
