Please don't play 15 ball.....

You know at the State Fair, where you break and run 4 balls in a diamond?

Start playing that. You may shoot at any ball into any pocket.
Don't feel bad if you don't make 2 or 3 balls on the break, that will come later.

When you get a chance, please report back to us with your high ball run, and if you do ever break and run all four, let us know that also as we will need to chip in for a purple monkey for you.

Good luck...

Every year I play this game and you will see this attractive blond haired girl with me (my wife) walking around the boardwalk of Ocean City with a big Orange Gorilla on her back all week :D Cant fit them all into the car at the end of the week.

(Gorilla is the prize, not me :D)

In all seriousness though, some of those tables are so tight and the conditions are so bad you feel like a million bucks for running those 4. :D

Here in Texas at the state fair, they make you quit if you win more than three or four times. The tables are horrible and have particle board for slate. Real classy. The best prizes though cuz hardly anyone ever does it.

i rolled 15 balls out on the table last night, and after a mulligan on the '1' Ball i ran the entire 15 balls in order - the first time.

after that, however, things went downhill. so, i decide to break some 9 Ball racks tonight, and i bet you posters cant guess what happened? yep, your right, didnt hardly ever have much of a chance to run out, horrible spreads, no luck, etc, etc.

glad everyone is thinking about me and enjoying my bad luck.

Switch to golf. You're too unlucky for pool.

Dang, DCP, I don't think we enjoy your bad luck, but after a while, what choice do we have? People keep trying to get you to be more positive, and stop focusing on your "bad luck".

You can get defensive at me for saying that if you want, but that's why they are frustrated with you. You keep asking for advice, they give you advice, and you seem to ignore it.

About that first rack you ran out, I bet you were so determined to prove the AzBilliards DCP-nay-sayers wrong, that you were focused like a laser beam. Maybe you should figure out how to harness that somehow! Like Waterboy!! Hehe, not trying to laugh at you, I hope you're laughing with me here, man. :p

I practise 11 ball now, and runouts are either common or uncommon depending on the spread and my game. Well done for clearing 15balls, 9ball should look alot easier after that.

DCP-
I think its time you start exploring the idea that if you have a continuous flow of bad luck, perhaps it isn't luck at all. It would seem to me that for someone who claims to have a problem getting out of just about any rack because of an "unlucky" roll here or there, perhaps your rolls aren't unlucky. Maybe you just need to re-evaluate your game. Accept your mediocrity. And I don't mean that as an insult. Being mediocre is normal. Even the best in the game started out bad, became mediocre, and eventually outshined the others. But all of this came with continued perserverence and practice, and above all else, time! Do you think Strickland, Reyes, Chao, and others were world class from the first moment they picked up a cue? I doubt it!

You will improve over time if you keep plugging away. Just stop updating us on every shot you take.

you probably wont believe this, but the last time i played in our club championship (stroke play) was several years ago. i havent played in the club championship since, and havent hardly played any golf at all the last 5 years since i decided to take up pool. i used to be about a scratch golfer, even participated in U.S. Open qualifying several years ago at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, IN.

anyway, back to the last time i played in our club championship. i got five
(5) bad hops the first six (6) holes. after the last one i walked over to the ball, picked it up, tossed it into the pond by the green, got in the cart, drove over and picked up my club i had just thrown, then drove back to the clubhouse, and left.

and this, my fellow posters, is no joke either.

DCP

p.s. just my luck, the day of the U.S. Open qualifying, it was a cool, rainy, breezy miserable day.

You have a pool table in your house and are able to play seemingly any time of the day you want and had the opportunity to have a top trick shot artist come to your house on more than one occaison, gone to the "David Leadbetter" of pool instructors "Mark Wilson" and have spoken on the phone with a very knowledable person on the game of pool and "mental mastery" and have attended some pretty big events and seen some great players.........."Sorry about your luck"

If you do not have a decent chance at a runout, practice playing good safeties instead. If you can lock yourself up, count it as a victory. If you can not even get a hit on the lowest ball, practice your push-out strategy. Knowing your strengths and weaknesses, is very important. Play your game according to your ability, not what you wish it were.

I was trying to think of something witty to say here but I'm stumped. :)

How about...

Take to weeks off and quit everything...

Try competitive eating maybe, how bad of a roll can you get in that (unless it is a fuzzy hotdog "roll" HAR HAR HAR :D)

I tried that one on him a long time ago. He didn't listen that time so I have no reason to believe he will now! :D

"take up competitive eating"

Are you sure you want to hear the stories about how he couldn't use condiments on his hot dogs, and he got a bad roll when he knocked over the cup of water that he dips his buns in?

Wahhhhh I just can't beat that Kobyaishi

Based on the above I would contend that your problem may be your break. If you break the balls well you WILL get good spreads and many chances to run out.

I can relate to you a little bro, but you seem down FAR FAR too much.
When I play bad I blame myself and can hate the game, but I try to switch things up, them can end up flying, running racks.
Its all mental, postive mind, positive game.
Last night i was down 4-2 in the final of a 9ball game giving 5 ball head start, i won 7-4, i forced myself into a positive mindframe.
