I really wish I had a picture, but about 6 months ago a friend of mine bought a cue for $1200, and it is by far the ugliest cue I have ever seen. I don't even know why kind of wood it has, but the coloring is grey, black, dark brown, and dark dark green. It has a couple square shaped ivory inlays, very tiny, and if you look at them closely, they are horribly flawed. The butt is super-thin, the balance feels weird, and the hit is undesirable, at least for me. I tried to help this guy look for a good cue to buy, I gave him links to nice cues in his price range on e-bay, but he didn't like anything. I don't even think he likes his cue very much. The saddest thing about it is I don't even think he could get 1/8 of what he payed for if he ever decided to sell it. Bleh.
Have you ever bought or know someone who bought a cue that turned out to be a monstrosity? I've had my cue for 3 years and for the past couple weeks it's been starting to hit like crap. I've decided to sell it, and already 2 people have expressed interest in paying me slightly less than half of what I bought it for (it's kind of worn out), and the ferrule is loose.
