this thread is kind of a spin off of the thread about attitude .....or mental state....focus ..or what ever you want to call it vs fundamentals.
i play scotch doubles double jeapordy on fri nights.
for those not familiar with it here is the format.
2 singles 8 ball matches
2 singles 9 ball matches
1 scotch doubles 9 ball
1 scotch doubles 8 ball.
2 singles matches going on simultaneously on 2 tables
4 man teams.
due to one person moving and another just shows up when he feels like it lately its just been 2 of us for the last month. let me tell you ...its a pain in the ass for the 2 of us to play and keep score at the same time.
i really don't know how we have managed to stay in 1st place in both 8 and 9 ball all session .
well back to what this thread is about, the will to win.
i am tired as heck from lack of sleep ....had to pick up my g/f from work 2;30 this morning and go back to bed then get up at 7;00 to go to work. had a rough day at work to boot.
kinda irked because our 3rd player aint showed so i am just going through the motions in my 1st match playing 9 ball vs their 6 in a 38 to 46 race...me going to 38
after the 1st rack was over i ask their scorekeeper .... my opponents g/f the results so i can match them on my scoresheet. she has a little smirk on her face while telling me he is up 8-2
end of 2nd rack she is smiling while tellin me he is up 15-5.
end of the 3rd rack she is smiling ear to ear to ear while telling me he is up 22-8. now normally something like that don't bother me because ....hey....its human nature for some one to be pleased as punch their boyfriend is kicking ass in his match.
as i was writing those results down the thought entered my mind. i am gonna wipe that shit eating grin off her face before this match is over.
when the match was over my oponent and i shook hands then i grabbed my scoresheet and waited for her to read the results. i was grinning ear to ear as i read the results back to her that i won 38-32.
its strange how something as minor as that will motivate you to have the will to win.
