The Word "Hit"

When discussing the "hit" of a cue, how are people around here applying the word "hit"? Are we talking about the shaft - "This cue hits stiff"? Are we talking about the joint - "This cue hits hard"? Are we talking about the tip/ferrule combination - "This cue hits crisp"? Is it applied to a combination of attributes that may include most things closest to the heart of the matter, but not necessarily everthing? For example, considering the feel of the butt, joint, and shaft together - "This cue hits a ton"? Is it an all encompassing thing that describes the general feel of the cue?

"Hit" belongs to the beholder. Frequently it relates to the cue we grew up with, and that has lasting effects. Remember that one piece housecue with the dark cigarette burns and special dents that was your everyday driver for years. Boy I wish I never lost that stick in that poker game. This new "camma Buchi" two piece seems close but not quite the same "hit" I remember.

Bowlers have special bowling balls for special conditions, too. Some bowlers have a large group of balls they have grown up with. Some "work better"(????) on different days of the week. This special composition Manhattan rubber ball has a huge following of devotees. Does any of this sound familiar?????

Practice with what you have and strive for perfection. Maybe some day you'll finally find the cue with the "magic hit" you are searching for.
