The Worst Bit Of Luck Yet. . . . . . . .

well, i guess i need to clarify. perhaps i am actually missing by more than a half inch, or so. i am talking about when my speed is off just a little, and i end up getting snookered by about 1'2", 1", or a ball, whatever. seems like when things are going bad, i end up snookered by 1/2" and dont have a shot because of that. if i would have stopped a 1/2" or so i would have had a shot then.

thats what i am talking about. so i suppose, if i have say about a foot or so to stop the cue ball in, and go 12 and 1/2", then, yes, i am missing by a WHOLE lot more than 1/2".

Sounds to me like you should have gotten that slow ass Mali cloth installed instead of the lightening fast blue Simonis.......

Pool table mechanic needed immediately at DCP's house for a cloth change. :D

I agree with the others about your position play. If you are missing position by just a few inches, maybe you are asking too much of yourself when you shoot. In other words, you take a path that requires perfect pin point position on one specific ball in order to have a shot rather than a path that allows you some leaway. Mike Sigel talks about it on his 8 ball instructional tape. Sometimes it's better to try to leave the CB in an area where you have many options than to try to get on one particular ball. Remember, it's not 9 ball. You don't have to shoot them in any particular order. You can always change your mind and shoot another ball if you don't get the position you wanted. Mike Sigel himself does just that on his tape- doesn't get the position he wants and decides to shoot something else. Hope this makes sense. Same principle works well in 14.1. Play position for a ball, but leave yourself some safety valves (Mike Sigel's term) if your position isn't perfect. Not sure if I explained it well. But, hope this helps.

I think you should go out and play somebody. See what the rest of the world does, as it sounds your always at home getting frustrated.

well, ok, now get this. just when i didnt think things could get any worse, it did.

like i said on the other post, i went home last night, and basically just racked the balls and broke em, to see if i could run some racks. i had spent about 3 hours wednesday night working on some shots. well, lo and behold, I RAN SOME RACKS EARLY ON!!! got some decent rolls, and i had a smile on my face. yes, now i did get some bad rolls off the break, messed up a couple chances too, but all in all i was a happy man.

so, i had to break for supper cause i was starving and then disaster struck. i was really looking forward to getting back down to the table, and then the ELECTRICITY GOES OFF!!! storms came through, and i was without power for over 3 hours. i finally go down with a flashlight and get my cues, flip the light switches to off, cover the table up, wipe the balls off, and give up for the evening. the electricity came back on about 10:00 or so.

just when things were going good for me, mother nature shuts me down. you can imagine my disappointment.

oh, and no videos of me will be forthcoming. and yes, i take the game quite seriously. again, i try and play/practice 2-5 hours a day, have bought many teaching videos, have the best table/balls/cues that money can buy, attend professional tournaments, tape ESPN shows and watch them over and over, taken many a lesson from Tom "Dr Cue" Rossman, Diana Minor, and Mark Wilson, have invented some of my own various ways to practice, etc, etc, etc. anybody that thinks i dont take the game seriously, and want to get better, just doesnt know the whole story. and in all honesty, it does seem to me at times that i just get more than my fair share of bad rolls off the break, but i suppose that happens to everyone at some point in time. and yes, i probably do like to complain about my lack of ability at times, and the bad rolls at time, as if they are just plain bad luck and the world is against me. sorry, my apologies for that, i'll try and tone it down in the near future.

but i cant wait to get home and rack em up again tonight!

regards,
DCP
