I don't know about any one else. There is nothing elsy in this world that makes me more mad than people stealing stuff. I work/ run a small Independant telephone company. 6 months ago we had wire stolen I got as look at them nothing happened. 5 police reports later still no one is caught. This past week stole more wire then tried to break into the garage. 2 more police reports. Last night more wire stolen and another police report.
Get a job you worthless theiving frog eyed hair lipped pieces of lazy F(^%^(*5876)*(&%86 ....
I catch them I will go to jail. Luckily no cues were stolen yet. But if they had gotten in the garage they probably would have.
Security cameras were ordered and supposed to be installed earlier this week. Not here yet.

Sorry for the rant but

Around here, the wire is stolen for the copper. The thieves usually try to sell it at one of the local scrap yards and get caught. Of course the scrap yards are usually informed as soon as the police are notified.

Hope you catch the little bastards. LOL.

Advice

When you catch these lowlifes, please do yourself a favor and vent some anger, by BREAKING A SHAFT OFF IN THEIR AS$#$# AND BEAT THEM OVER THE HEAD WITH A CUE BUTT.

No real preference on the type of shaft and cue, but I'm sure quite a few AZ'ers wouldn't mind if it was a Meucci/Medici.

My biggest fear is I will catch someone trying to steal something John. I understand Your feelings, and like me I'm sure If You caught someone doing that, it would be a bad day for them. I have chased many of kids in the dark, even had some screaming he has a gun, as they ran through a neighbors yard one night when me My brother and his friend caught 5 of them trying to steal a boat, so they called the cops and said someone had a gun, which wasn't even true. A big old walking tall stick, a shovel handle, well yes maybe:rolleyes: ;) , but the firearms were locked up tight. They a were all dressed in black, but we were onto them before they even got to the boat, and caught them Getting in and trying to leave down the canal. My brother and his friend were down the road at a friends house and saw them creeping around in the dark, called me and we all met out there at the same time & blasted in on them like a drug bust, truck lights blaring as they slid in, and three of us coming from different directions at them. They scattered like roaches in the dark when the light comes on & were screaming like little girls.:D It was pretty funny. hopefully it atleast taught one of them a lesson, and made them realize that something very bad could happen to them if they continue to do such things, and not straighten out.

Not sure what kind of wire You use John, but if it's anything thick & worth scrapping then I would put the word out at the scrap yards just in case the cops don't. If it's like cat5 or something, it may be worth more sold as what it's intended for or it could be an installer that uses the stuff. Never know, but it's even someone wanting to scrap it, sell it, or for their own use. May want to be cautious of anyone else that uses it on the fly, and is known to be less then honest.

I feel for You, I know how angry It can make A person. feels like Ya have to be on guard 24/7. I hope they get the AH's doing it.

Your Problem's are not new!

I indirectly hear about this same problem on a daily basis.

I hear this problem is because of the economy. I think the price of copper is high so people will steal it since it dosen't seem that anybody is checked on it.

I live in Detroit and this problem of people stealing copper out of buildings that are vacant and even some that are occupied is unbelievable. Seems nobody is doing anthing about it.

The City need to register the people that own the scrap yards so they can be accountable for the copper they buy from these lowlife's.

Security ( Surveillance Video Systems ) are sometimes helpful in identifing the bad guys, but this usually dosen't prevent the theft.

Call your local Police Depoartment daily, speak to the Lutenant in charge of the Patrol Officers, ***** about the problem and what are they doing to stop it, this will probably get some results, .....hopefully, well maybe

Good Luck :D

I put up a 4 camera system around a year ago. I luckily haven't really had to use it yet. My real security system is an H&K usp. I highly recomend you get one. A picture of a thief is nice but a bullet in the ass makes it alot easier for the cops to locate the perp. Chris.

I have a S&W 9mm, among a few other cannons, and so far haven't had to take any out except for target practice, or hunting. I also have a couple signs on our property explaining what can happen if the lights go on and they're caught red-handed. We have alot of the copper stealing going on in Mass also. Sometimes they steal it at night, as fast as the installers put it in during the day.
It's a sad world we live in today...:(

I would hate to meet up with a theif in my shop or home. These guys are idiots. I would sure introduce them to one of my many toys. They would not be too likely to theive again. I sell firearms and build custom guns. I had a fellow buddy locally that got robbed and shot in his own gun shop. That takes balls. Some people....

Here are a few of my custom built toys I have built in my shop.

I am leaving work last night. I stop at the computer shop to pick up a monitor for my mom. She calls and says they are burning the insulation off of the wire down over the hill. I turn around go back to work/ mom's house. As soon as I got into town I smelled it. 2 houses down from where it was stolen they are burning the insulation off of the wire. I called the cops said if you want to catch them in the act here they are. 1:15 later they show up. 50' hand coil of wire will burn in approx 10 min and dissipate the smoke.

Security cameras are on their way and were on thurs night when we got hit again. Sad part is I knock one down with a 40 and i go to jail. I just want to find their car or truck and just trash the hell out of it. That would be justification for me.... Cameras will be up soon and I will abit them in... Bastards..

Chris one thing you should know and ask is what the resolution on the cameras are. If it is a cheap camera more that likely it won't be admisable in court.
Our set up quote 4 cameras rated at 100' dvr 300 gig drive installation and lock box 3800$

Here is an update. I had to come in early Sun morning. 3:30 to change the time on our telephone switch and vmail. So I said ahh I am here why not work on cues for a while. I cut some tennons for ring on shafts and a pass on about 100 shafts. I come up to epoxy the rings on and my mom calls frantic they are here they are here stealing cable again!!! Epoxy setting up I run out the door jump in the truck 1 ton ram dually diesel... Cold after 5 hours sitting out. Rattlin nockin chirpin tier up to my moms. I pull the front of the truck to within 1 inch of the front of theirs. I am thinking I got em yaaa... Thought I had em boxed in but I didn't the kid drivin is laughing at me. the kid running down the hill to the truck is laughing. At this time I am spinning in the grass move close. Didn't drop into 4 wheel for fear of blowing the t case out. They get past cop s on the way.. damn it..
Moral of the story... hind sight is always 20/20 next time I have that opportunity I will keep rolling and push that little s-10 up in the weeds. Damn it I wish I thought of that when I was close. They are local and I WILL find them. Bastards....

This morning I walked into work and my welding foreman informed me that we had been robbed. Someone cut all of the leads off of some of our welding machines and our stud guns. All said and done they made off with about 600 feet of 4/0 welding cable. I filed a police report and went to all of the recycling centers but I know I'll never catch who did it.

I Caught Them!

I caught the electricians ordering 6 inch aluminum conduit. Having it dropped off at the job, cutting it up and taking it to the scrap yard. they also over ordered about 400 ft. of 1 inch thick copper wire and came in on overtime and cut it up (getting paid about $80 an hour to do it) and packing it into the truck and heading to the junk yard. To make a long story short, they knew somebody I didn't and I got fired. You never know. $85,000 a year down the toilet for trying to stop the corruption around you! Life goes on my friends!

Hmmm, maybe time to accidentally leave a few hundred volts across those conductors ... "yes officer, those smoking piles over there tried to steal my wire" :D

Dave, just joking, video cameras may be more lawsuit friendly ;)

Not These Days

I've interrupted people trying to steal my stereos a few times and chased them off. I wouldn't go out now days unless I was packing. The crank heads will kill you for nothing. It ain't worth it.

I fabricated a push bar on my last truck out of sch 80 steel pipe and 3/8 plate for this reason... So I could smash things and not hurt the truck. Looks like it is time to build one for this animal..

My biggest fear was not if I caught someone, but if my late wife caught them. She was a fiesty little pistol packing lady. Once someone was being too forward with my daughter and she walked up and nudged the tip of a knife lightly into his back and very sweetly said, "when a girl says no, she means no."
I think he got the point. All pun intended. :)
Some meth heads tore the walls out of a new house under construction just to steal the copper wire. Did many thousands of dollars worth of damage to get a couple of fixes at most. It hurt the guy financially so bad that he stopped working on the house.

Copper Roofing

We have a lake here in the city that has a building with restrooms and storage that had a copper roof one day and the next day it was gone. The building is a couple hundred feet from one of the main streets here. I'm not sure whether anyone was caught.
