there are cue balls and then there are cue balls

yea I am seriously thinking of buying the aramith tournament set, like in the morning!

If you can get ahold of Mike Zuglan he was selling the slightly used Aramith Tournament sets from the last Turning Stone event for $200. That's almost half price. They are a very handsome looking set. If I didn't already have a set of Centennials I'd have sprung for a set from Mike when I was there. May not be any left at this point but it's worth a try.

At home a have the aramith tournament set with the black logo cue ball. Normally I use all balls from that set except the cue ball. I use the red dots cue ball. Maybe it is a visual issue and that I am more used to that ball, but I feel the red dots cue ball is easier to move around (draw shots i.e.). The weight difference is less than 1 gram. The red dots ball is slightly heavier.

NEVER buy "A" ball you buy a "SET" of balls that distinction cannot be made clear enough..

The physics of pool only work right when all the balls are the same size and weight...most of the manufacturers can produce a nice "set" of balls all the same size all the same weight .. pool works right... mixing and matching is the kiss of death

When I bought my table a set of Aramith Super Pros was part of the deal. Once set up and playing, I realized pretty quick that the 2 ball and cue ball were obviously mismatched replacements, the two looked different, but the heavier, pasty-matte looking cue ball just felt awkward to play with... It seemed to plow its way around the table.

The pool hall I go to uses Aramith measles CBs, so it was a good excuse to get one of those instead of the standard Super Pro CB. (red dot?).

I also bought a Super Pro 2-ball, to make a complete Aramith Super Pro set and am very happy with the consistency of this set. The measles ball works well with Raschigs, too.

I've found that an added perk of the measle ball is that it can also make for a good conversation piece with some of your non-pool player visitors...
