Theres no way this wood could be beautiful...right

Those are some CRAZY pcs of wood! I think I sent those samples to the right guy! :) We will have to talk about you building me a cue this coming year.

For those of you who didn't see the thread a few weeks ago....I was out in my wood pile cutting/splitting some logs I have had for a few years, and they looked REALLY wierd? Turned out to be spalted Maple....who would have thunk it. So I sent some over to Marshall to see if it was worth using in a cue or art or whatever.

I have a bunch of it that almost went into the fire place!

G.

I love that color.
Marshall, maybe you could explain a bit of the process to us so we can better understand.
I'm interested in the process plus the time frame involved from start to cutting and curing.

I'm no cue expert, but the formerly licensed pesticide consultant in me tells me the tree was purposely infected with a virus?

look at this wood I just harvested....
it's so ugly no way it could be used for cues...
crap what a waste of time....
hehe

It's not box elder.
Some of the wood is a mix of buckeye and my own batch I made to simulate buckeye. Still wood though. And they are all vacuum treated by impregnation.

Does modifying the wood like this affect the hit at all?

Incredible pieces. Do you have a website or a thread here with samples of finished products (and possibly prices)?
