Thick rugged vs Lined tube

I’m just looking to get a new case. And since I need to travel with my cues sometimes, I’m wondering which interior provides best protection to the cue? Thick rugged interior or separately lined tubes?

to me and i am no expert the cue being "snuggled" by the thick rugged
as opposed to bouncing off the liners of the the tube
gives the advantage to the thick rugged
assuming the case itself is strong enough

i would rather have my cues "snuggled" than bouncing around in a tube. the least movement the better. This is why i dont like tube cases. i like the JB rugged cases. just my preference though

I have both, a J&J lined tube with springs in the wells and a 3x6 JB. Both are great cases. If i was to travel any further than to/from the 'hall i'd use the JB everytime. I can't speak for all tube cases but i've had the J&J for at least 15yrs and the cues don't move much and have never seen any tube caused damage. If i was buying just one new case i'd go JB Rugged for sure.

Thanks guys for the advices! I know that it is better to prevent your cue bouncing around in the case. But just a bit concern that the cue will bend if it is too tight in the case like everything is squeezed together

i usually never travel with my cues. if i need to travel i have a "it will do" setup for that. I am not taking a chance in loosing my cues during plane travel ect.

In my honest opinion Jb cases are probably the most perfect case for carry even storage for all that matter. Not overly tight plus unlike tube cases dont have to listen to them rattle going down the road. For storage realy can go either way. Whittens and even the flowers 12 x 24 tube storage cases are realy good for storage as well.

Traveled a few times with a JB rugged and never any issues. Since pool cues aren't allowed to be carried on to the plane they go into the belly of the plane with all the other checked luggage and so far I had no damage whatsoever to my case or cues. If you are really worried you could fit the JB inside a big piece of luggage if you have one.
