Thick shaft cues ?

Been playing for fun for a long time using house cues. Recently joined a league and am doing surprisingly well.

I am used to the feel of house cues and like the thicker choices among what they have in the racks. The thick cue suits my game at this time helping me with longer shots, concentrating on pocketing balls and using draw-follow-speed to control the cue ball. I rarely use side english.

I am having problems finding thick shaft cues ? Seems like everything is 12-13mm.

i know no production cue that uses more tham 13mm, except the older (3 or 4 years i think) joss shafts, they were basically at 13.25 mm. you still may get one of these with the older models, just ask the seller

Hi,
You could either go custom or check out Predator 312-2 Fat shaft, tip size is 13.2mm. This was created to penetrate the Taiwanese market as most of the players there like their shaft thick.

Sorry if this is a stupid question. What is the thickness of the typical house cue ? Most of the house cues in my hall are the same, but there are always a few thicker ones around and that is what I am looking for.

Tip size and maybe a place to get info/order

Hi,
if I am not mistaken the thickest standard house cue is 13. There may be more sizes available, but pool halls just may not have as many of them.
Meuller Rec. Products has am extensive catalogue for pool and darts. They sell all sorts of cues and tip supplies. They are quite knowledgeable and could answer a question on what brands offered thicker shaft sizes/year. They may even have what you need in stock. I would contact them. Here is their cue page.

I would be willing to bet that Ryan from RAT cues(his stuff is on Meuller's site) could make a sneaky for you in a thicker style house cue (he's on the forum here at AZ--ratcues) either from a production cue or slightly modified one(custom).
Mueller makes a ton of their own supplies.
They may be able to get it for you cheaper than another maker, since they have a large volume business.
Troy Downey is also there. Meuller has always been extremely helpful and curteous to me both on the phone and questions through e-mail.
Hope this helps.
Best of luck to you.
Jeremy

If it didn't take so long to find a straight house cue in the rack with the correct weight and a decent tip, a lot of people would use them.
I don't believe that the shaft's are much more than 13mm just like most cues custom or production.
The fat / thicker taper on a house cue may fit your style, so maybe you should try and find a nice 2-piece Dufferin on Ebay for a few bucks, and get the best of both worlds.
Some of those old Duff's hit and break pretty good, and Dufferin made some of the better house cues in my opinion.

fat cues

I have cues with whatever taper and tip and size you want . Dan Axe Old School Petes call 812/243/3425

Long story short. I bought a standard 13mm cue, 19.5 weight.

Long story. Everyone probably can figure the story out. Met Victor Stein at Blatt Billiards, the author of the Billiard Encyclopedia. Since I've only played house cues, that is all I am used to. Victor recommended a standard 13mm and a weight lighter than I am used to. Basically a balanced cue that I can grow with that will help me improve, opposed to a low level beginner cue that feels comfortable because I don't know any better.
