What cuemakers fit in this catagory in thier standard line...(besides the obvious custom cue)

I am looking for one a little thinner than a Schon LTD that I own..(and could be posted for sale soon)

Hit a Jacoby that was perfect, but it is a custom build...(and not for sale) ...not sure if their standard lines are the same...

ICBW, but i believe that Blud builds his cues with a standard long pro taper and thin butt.
You might want to PM him here or use the contact on his website.

Thanks,

I can give half an answer. I got a used Nick Varner Falcon from a guy recently and it has a thin butt. I can't tell you what the taper was on the original shaft because he had sanded it down. I use the extra 314 that he had with it.

I've never had a cue with this thin of a butt, a 314 shaft or a moori tip before and this one has all three so it's an adjustment.

Hope this helps.

custom?

Hello BrknRun,
I don't know what you expect to spend, but I'll build you what ever you want.
Go to hittcues.com and see if we are a match. The only problem might be the wait for me to get it built. Figure about 6 weeks for a basic model.
E-mail is the best way to get in touch with me.

Being a thin butt cue fan myself...I would recommend a Kenny Murrell or a Viattorre...both can be seen at www.wolfbite.com and no I am not affiliated with the website...just know the guy carries both of those makers at some good prices.

John Parker of Auerbach Custom Cues builds a thin butt Cue. That is his standard, along with a long taper shaft.

His website is www.auerbachcustomcues.com

Call Jacoby and see what their standard butt is. www.jacobycue.com

What dimensions or specs determine a thin butt as apposed to a normal butt
Does anyone know what is suppose to be "standard" I thought it was like 1.250 at butt end and .870 at the joint. I too prefer a thinner handle and a longer taper. I bought a Kennyq from him recently that was set up this way. It plays great and was priced right. The colors leave a little to be desired but all in all a good deal.

Not aware if there is such a standard but my joint specs are between 0.850-0.845... building one now for a guy with a. 0.825 at the joint and 1.230 at the butt, not that's a thin cue for me :D

Cuetec has a thinner joint I believe somwhere around 0.785 or so but the taper gets gets aggressive at the handle area.

Thanks for the reply guys. I think what I will need to do is get a tool to measure the diameter of this guys cue and then get a custom job.

I will probably go with Jacoby as thier hit is on the stiffer side. (unless DCP wants to send me his)

I have short wide "square hands" and have way better control over a smaller grip size.

Also, I can't stand the looks and feel of a shaft that is thick at the joint and then taper drops off like the grand canyon. (It reminds me of a softball bat or fungo bat in reverse)..I also think at changes the overall balance of the cue like that.

BTW...The Schon LTD is listed in the Wanted/For Sale Section...It really is a great cue for someone that has normal size hands and is strong enough to handle a 19.5oz cue...(and it looks good too)

You can check

My playing cue from Shurtz Custom Cues is
a slimline butt with a long shaft taper. He does
them.

Bob Owen is making some progress with their
website now, and has some good pictures
of some of his work.

go to Shurtz custom cues

Look at cues on 'Home' page and on 'Cues' page.
