thinking of having a cue built like this, sample pictures request?

Hi everyone. I love the 6 point basic SW style cues. Attached is one of them that I have with highly figured curly maple and ebony points with natural and black veneers plus ebony and maple butt windows. I am thinking of having one built with very similar design, style and points but it would be:

  • thuya burl forearm
  • thuya burl large butt window (same size as ebony butt window)
  • ebony small butt window (same size as maple butt window)
  • same style ebony points with natural and black veneers (would the natural veeners in the points and rings look good with the thuya burl or should I go a different one?)
  • black joint, similar rings (style and locations) and butt cap similar to one shown
  • firm black pebble wrap
  • old growth non-LD maple shafts, 3/8x10 modified joint
I am finding very few sample images like the above spec'ed cue after multiple searches. Do people have some like this in their galleries that they can share so I can get a good and sound final prototype image representation to see if if it is indeed the cue I want to order.

TIA,

This is the closest I've found but the point styles are different (still 6, high / low) and the burl is maple, not thuya and the wrap is white / black linen. I think I like only 1 wood window in the butt now (all burl). Interesting point design in this cue.

I don’t have too much insight but the cue makers who I have seen make cues in this style are Rick Howard, Mike Stacey (sp?) and Dan Dishaw, though Dishaw uses Radial as his standard pin.

I don’t mean to leave out other makers, nor have I hit with one of these guys cues.

I’m a Barnhart fan but I have only seen a 6 pointer with no veneers from him.

Good luck

Try researching Black Pearl Cues and Joel Davidas Cues.

I think you’ll find close examples.

If that fails search other makers from the Philippines.

I have a few potential builders I am considering. I cannot tell if the inner veneer in this attached picture is white, light gray or natural maple. Can anyone tell or does someone know RC3's build style and know what he usually uses here?
