Thinner butt cues

Robinson spec. are 1.04 top of wrap and 1.14 bottom of wrap.

Wow I like those specs, very subtle taper from the wrap down I might have to look into a Robinson cue.

I couldn't stop thinking about the Eddie Wheat cue and the rings. I ended up putting the cue under my micro scope to take a closer look. Here is my conclusion. -
In magnifying it I could see that Eddie builds his rings like this:
Step one:
He takes phenolic disc that is cut thin and installs it which would look like a single thin black ring
Step two
Then he installs a maple disc that is 3-4 mm thick like a plain maple ring
Step three
Then he installs another black phenolic disc.
Step four
This is where he cheats, he etches out a square section and fills it with some sort of black nail polish or even what some people where saying simply a sharpie, any way it is some black filling. I imagine he tapes off the maple ring and applies the nail polish and lets it dry, after that her applies a finish. I can assure you that the Eddie Wheat cue I have has rings that are not made from a billet.

I prefer mine a little thing too. I build most of mine .835 at the joint and 1.21 at the butt.

thinner butt cues..

I play with a custom cue .855 at the joint. and 1.20 at the butt cap. It has an extended wrap so i can't tell you the measurements by wrap length.

Thin Butt

Here is a thin one I'm almost done with. Needs sanded and sprayed. Sorry for the crappy phone pics, wife must have the camera in her purse or something.

I love the look of that cue, what would a cue like that run me if I had you make me one with a leather wrap. Also what kind of cue construction are you in to? do you core out your cues, if so how thick of a core and what type of woods? Thanks for all the posts, I am loving it.
