> Over the weekend,I found a cue that just grabbed me that wasn't a Schon or something else with a SS joint. It's a Spider Web,by Bill Webb. It's pretty much the same layout as several other cues he's posted pics of here, just different woods. It's a 3/8-10 joint, with short black collars and a silver trim ring. The forearm is really nice straight-grained purpleheart with 6 curly maple points in the high-low format. The point work is excellent, with a thin maple veneer, purpleheart veneer, then curly points. The veneer seams are very nicely executed, with no ugly glue lines. The butt sleeve is purpleheart with a wide maple SW type ring at the bottom, the Spider Web logo silkscreened into the maple, with a black butt cap. The rings are purpleheart with maple and ebony inserts, set vertically, and they all line up nicely. The finish is super nice, and the only damage anywhere on it is a couple of small spots on the joint collar where the finish has been chipped from sliding it into a tight case. The wrap is black with white spot linen, nice and tight and pressed almost flat. Both shafts are nice, fairly white with nice grain, and some kind of linen based ferrules. I've only hit 3 balls with it so far,but the cue reminded me of a SW or other high-grade flat faced cue. I feel like I stole it for 300 bucks, and I will post pics of it along with my Runde era Schon as soon as possible. Tommy D.
